SUMMARY:

The fundamental role of museums for social inclusion and citizenship is recognized, but this objective does not materialize when the building or the content presents obstacles to the use of people in their diversities. Considering the increase in the number of museums in recent decades, the frequent adaptation of buildings to shelter this use, as well as the low rates found in the latest monitoring related to compliance with legal requirements for accessibility and cultural enjoyment, it is noticed a demand for collaboration from the field of architecture with the multidisciplinarity that involves museums. This context raises the following question: what architectural attributes influence or contribute to a satisfactory and inclusive museum experience? This research aims to analyze cultural nature museum projects, with a focus on functional and inclusive aspects, such as access, circulation and spatial distribution. To achieve this goal, the following specific objectives will be sought: to discuss functional analysis methods that allow the evaluation of the space based on the project; investigate aspects related to inclusion in museums that dialogue with the functionality in the project; identify features of inclusive architectural elements or solutions in museums. The methodological procedures include a literature review on universal design, cultural accessibility, inclusion in museums and methods of graphic analysis of projects. Using designs, photographs and other elements that can be graphically analyzed as a data source, research procedures will be carried out that involve redesigning projects and relevant elements, in the form of plans or virtual models, construction of a graphic analysis matrix, and synthesis diagrams of the conclusions found. The expectation of results foresees the characterization of different museum projects looking for lessons and possible answers to design questions related to circulation that can be applied in other similar situations, as a way of subsidizing the pertinent discussion of architectural work and contribution possibilities to existing demands in the fields of inclusion and cultural accessibility.
