RESUMO:

Introduction: Cystic fibrosis is a chronic condition that involves several systems leading to innumerable clinical manifestations that affect daily life and outcomes related to functional, pulmonary and psychosocial performance, and quality of life (QoL). The most common instrument for evaluation of QoL in children with cystic fibrosis (QFC) seems to have a broad perspective. It has been validated and translated into different languages and it embraces the evaluation of the child with CF from childhood through adulthood in its four versions, allowing the evaluation of younger children. The ICF can be used as a tool to describe domains covered by assessment instruments. Because we have no reports of a study that has analyzed the content of this instrument with the ICF, this study will address the linking of two versions of this questionnaire, the version for parents/caregivers of children aged from 6 to 13 years (QFCparents 6-13) and version for children with CF aged from 6 to 11 years (QFC 6-11). Objectives: to analyze two versions of the Quality of Life questionnaire in cystic fibrosis (QFCparents6-13 and QFC6-11) with the ICF. Methods: The study was developed in two steps. The first one comprised a review of the literature for identification and selection of specific quality of life questionnaires for children with cystic fibrosis, and the second one consisted in linking the questionnaires content with the ICF. The linking was performed according to Cieza et al., 2002. Results: The content of the versions was predominantly related to the body function component (42.3% and 42.5%), followed by the activity and participation component (30.8% and 40%) and environmental factors (7.7% and 10%) in QFCparents6-13 and QFC6-11, respectively. Conclusion: Results revealed that the environmental factors was the domain with the lowest linkage in the two investigated versions.
