Municipal School Atlas of Caicó - RN
Place; municipal school atlas; Caicó.
The aim of this study is to produce a municipal school atlas for Caicó, Rio Grande do Norte, to be used in the early years of elementary school, with a focus on teaching and learning about the place through an understanding of its history, society, economy, politics, culture, and environment. The choice to produce the municipal school atlas as a teaching material is due to its importance for the development of education with contextualization for the place. Furthermore, the empirical focus of Caicó is justified by the fact that the researcher is a teacher in the municipal public education system and, therefore, experiences the place and the schools that exist there. The atlas will be produced through theoretical reflections on the key concepts of the research (place, atlas and Caicó) and according to the guidelines of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) for teaching and learning about the place in the early years of elementary school. Furthermore, the content of the atlas will be adapted to the potential and needs of the aforementioned level of education in public schools in Caicó, through dialogues with teachers and observations of their professional practices. As an intended result, it is expected that the municipal school atlas of Caicó will serve to qualify teaching and learning in this place in the initial years of Elementary Education.
