Timbaúba dos Baptistas: The history and geography of the place

School Geography has as principle to offer the student the ability to carry out a world reading, and that this is happening throughout the basic education, but for that the starting point is to consider the reality lived by the student. Based on this premise the present work to be presented, has as objective the production of didactic book aimed at elementary education. The research carried out here problematizes the teaching of Geography in the perspective of the place, considering the history and geography of Timbaúba of Baptists as content for the production of the book. In this sense, the investigation is guided by the following questions: How did the process of formation and urban expansion take place in the Municipality of Timbaúba dos Batistas? What are the physical aspects of the municipality in what concerns climate, vegetation, relief and hydrography? How is the municipality characterized in demographic and economic terms? What are the main cultural manifestations in the municipality?
The purpose of this product is to approximate the teaching of geography with the reality lived by the students who study in the municipality of Timbaúba dos Batistas- RN, since in the mentioned municipality there is no type of literature suitable for teaching that contemplate the history and the geography of the place. As for the methodology, it consists of the collection of information from bibliographical, documentary and field research that can give consistency to the contents of the future book. With this, it is hoped that said product can reduce the gap between what one learns in geography and what one lives and contribute to improving pedagogical practices.
