SUMMARY:

Education in Brazil has made significant progress in recent decades, but it still faces challenges in ensuring broad access and quality. In Rio Grande do Norte, initiatives that go beyond formal education have strengthened the educational process, highlighting the role of museums as spaces for learning, scientific popularization, and knowledge construction. The Museum of Morphological Sciences of UFRN (MCM-UFRN) stands out in this context for its continuous activity since its opening in 2009, as an informal educational space that develops activities combining research, teaching, and outreach, promoting science to the community. This study aims to characterize the profile of visitors to the Museum of Morphological Sciences of UFRN based on the following data: educational institution (public or private), age group and level of education, and morphology content covered. It also maps the territorial scope of the MCM-UFRN's activities, identifying the municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte reached by its itinerant activities. Data were collected between 2009 and 2025, covering both the museum's physical activities, with permanent and interactive exhibitions, and its traveling initiatives that bring scientific knowledge to different regions of the state. As a result, it was found that the MCM-UFRN received a total of 30,928 visitors, predominantly from public school students, and through the traveling museum, it reached 62,531 people over its 16 years of operation, covering more than 20 different municipalities in the following regions of Rio Grande do Norte: Eastern Coast, Northern Coast, Seridó Region, Agreste Region, and Mossoró Region. By bringing morphological sciences to diverse audiences, the MCM-UFRN reached 93,459 visitors, contributing to sparking interest in knowledge, promoting educational inclusion, and strengthening the bond between the university and society.
