MUSICAL-TRAINING PATHS OF WOMEN INSERTED IN NATAL´S ROCK MUSICAL SCENE

This research is entitled “formative-musical paths of women inserted in the rock
scene of Natal-RN”, whose objective is to understand how the musical formation of
these members occurs, from 1960 to 2023, considering the different spaces and
experiences lived by them in each one of them. The research is configured as a case
study, in which the scene is the object of study and the participating women are the
sample. The results were divided into two parts. The first, addressing more general
aspects, such as the number of women active, how many and which instruments
they played or play, which subgenres they were or are linked to. The data for this first
part were collected through literature on the scene and observation. The second,
brings more specific results, collected from semi-structured interviews, which dealt
with musical training and the history of rock in Natal, also focused on the history of
the female public in the scene, were carried out with 17 women in the first half of
2023. The interviews were analyzed based on the discourse analysis technique.
These results point to different ways of learning, with self-learning being the most
common among the interviewees.
