Communities of practice for knowledge management: an intervention proposal at the João Pessoa campus of the Federal Institute of Paraíba

In today’s society, knowledge is becoming a valuable asset and, for that reason, ways of creating, storing, managing and sharing this knowledge are being sought. The Brazilian's Public Administration has developed over the last decade researches about knowledge management in the public administration. The aim of this research is to examine the maturity's levels in knowloadge management at the Instituto Federal da Paraíba, campus João Pessoa, and throught the case study in two departments verify the existence of communities of practice. These data will be organized and confronted with the literature review to build a business case to propose the intervention in the knowledge management and communities of practice areas to help the organization to implement the actions foreseen in the strategic planning for the next decade of: 'Encourage the emergence of communities of practice' and 'Develop structures to facilitate knowledge networks'.
