The National Secondary Education Examination (ENEM) is one of the most prominent standardized assessment instruments, and it is carried out on a large scale and has a national reach. The main objective of this doctoral thesis proposal is to characterize the socioeconomic and demographic profiles of the School Population with Disabilities in the Special Education Public (PEcD_PEE) and associate them with the respective performances of this group in the ENEM. Microdata from the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP) will be used to conduct this analysis, and five editions of ENEM will be analyzed (2009, 2019-2022).To characterize the obtained profiles, the Expectation Maximization (EM) clustering method will be used. The variables under study will be classified according to the type of capital from the sociological perspective of Coleman (1988) and Bourdieu (1998), these variables include: the number of people in the family, the father's level of education, the mother's level of education, family income, the presence of a TV set in the student's household and its quantity, the presence of a DVD player in the student's household, the number of computers in the household, the number of cars in the household, the number of washing machines in the household, the number of refrigerators in the household, the existence and number of landline telephones in the household, the number of cell phones, access to the internet and cable TV. Six demographic variables of the student will also be analyzed (gender, race/ethnicity, type of school, school location, state code where the test was administered, and age group). Statistical tests will also be used for performance analysis: a) Mann-Whitney U test for comparing distributions between groups; b) Shapiro-Wilk testfor checking the normality of the score distributions; c) Student's T-test for independent samples with unequal variances, aimed at identifying significant differences in the group means. Given the relevance of the topic, it is expected to provide information that can support the creation of public policies aimed at PEcD_PEE and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, focusing primarily on the Quality Education goals (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5) and Reducing Inequalities (SDG 10).
