SUMMARY:

This research focuses on Voloch's Blog, a newspaper column specializing in volleyball hosted on the O Tempo website, focusing on coverage of the Women's Volleyball Super League. The overall objective is to analyze how specialized journalistic discourse symbolically establishes and distributes positions of prestige and disrepute in the field of Brazilian women's volleyball. To this end, the analysis is based on French Discourse Analysis, with an emphasis on the concepts of discourse from Maingueneau and Charaudeau (2014); the communication contract and discursive strategies from Charaudeau (2007; 2010); and the enunciative contract and the role of ethos from Maingueneau (2010; 2023). The concepts of field, habitus, and symbolic power from Bourdieu (1998) are also used, as well as his reflections on the sports field (1983). This research is qualitative and interpretative in nature, based on discourse analysis. The corpus consists of publications from the Voloch Blog between October 2024 and April 2025 about the Brazilian Women's Superliga, a period that spans from the preseason to the end of the championship's qualifying phase. The discursive strategies of subject positioning will be analyzed, including the construction of ethos and the mechanisms of symbolic valorization. The aim is to understand how sports journalism participates in the production of meaning and the symbolic organization of women's volleyball in Brazil.
