SUMMARY:

"The House of the Healer: a process of scenic creation inspired by the
experiences with the Healers of Currais Novos, Seridó/RN," the master’s
dissertation presented here, emerges from the sharing of knowledge among
artists, researchers, and the community of healers with whom I have lived since
childhood up to the present day. Through experiences, encounters, perceptions,
and memories, scenes and artistic expressions in multiple languages were
created throughout the research. I write life stories and engage in dialogue with
scientific reflections within the field of art research. Since 2022, I have been
developing an artistic practice with the healers of Currais Novos, RN, with the
aim of understanding the practice of healing prayers (benzeção), as well as the
skills and knowledge that shape the ritual. Inspired by what moves me, touches
me, and leaves its mark on my path, I seek, by “re-seeing” everyday scenes
through sharpened perceptions, to bring them into the artistic sphere. These are
movements in body arts, performing arts, photography, and audiovisual media
— poetic, political, and pedagogical languages, woven into a dramaturgy of sound and image. "The House of the Healer" is a scene composed of
photographs, memories, and skin; it is the scene of the character Dona Romã, a
healer who shares wisdom, tells stories, and invites us into conversations,
prayers, and coffee. Above all, it is both an invitation to arrive and a request for
permission to dive into the mysterious setting of healing rituals.
