Group Theatre; Theatre Production; Cultural Management; Potiguar Theatre.
This research investigates the production practices of the first play by Grupo Rebuliço de Teatro, titled Anavantú: Um passo pra frente e dois pra trás (one step forward and two steps back). The study adopts an ethnographic approach and analyzes records kept by the author, who worked as both producer and actress in the production, relating them to the ideas of Rosyane Trotta (1995), Rômulo Avelar (2008), Fernando Yamamoto (2012), Diogo Spinelli (2016), and Heloisa Marina (2023). Based on the experience of producing this play, the work examines the main obstacles and potentialities within the independent theatre scene in Natal (Brazil), and proposes strategic possibilities to overcome these challenges.
