DID THE HEAD PASS: An analysis of the role of the Agrarian Bourgeoisie in the Brazilian federal legislature
Parliamentary Front for Agriculture; Capitalist Agriculture; Ruralist Caucus; Agribusiness; Agrarian Hegemony.
This project aims to analyze the political and economic power of the ruralist caucus in the Federal Legislature and its strategies to ensure the hegemony of agribusiness in the period from 2014 to 2025. To this end, it proposes to analyze the performance and articulation of the deputies and senators who composed the ruralist caucus in the years 2014 to 2025, through the proposal, voting and implementation of laws and decrees by this caucus. The need for this study arises from the assessment that the Brazilian State, especially through the legislative branch, has increasingly presented itself as an arm of support and support for the dominant class. The ruralist caucus has been a protagonist in the processes of articulation between the caucuses for the proposal and voting of legislation within and outside its theme, assuming the characteristic of maintaining the dominant hegemony. To this end, the methodology adopted included a bibliographical survey and analysis of the theme and documentary research, in order to conduct a historical survey of the ideological and political trajectory of the national agrarian bourgeoisie and the Parliamentary Front for Agriculture in the context of the growth of conservatism and the growth of the national extreme right. The method of analysis used was the critical dialectic to delve deeper into the entirety of the phenomenon under analysis. Thus, based on the preliminary studies carried out, it is noted that this group - which was born with the perspective of “protecting private property and the domination of the agrarian bourgeoisie” - has assumed a leading role in the relationship between the State and the hegemonic class and may be directly influencing the social, political and economic interests of the country.
