SUMMARY:

This research stems from the following question: how can mapping the most demanded information support the improvement of the informational content available on the institutional portal of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), contributing to the optimization of services at the Administrative Secretariat of the Rector’s Office (GR/SECADM)? It is assumed that organizing and providing frequently asked questions and institutional answers, derived from the mapping of utility information, can serve as a feasible solution for quick access to relevant content, reducing repetitive queries and allowing GR/SECADM to focus on strategic activities. The study is justified by the need to enhance the management of utility information within the institution, promoting greater user autonomy and optimizing access to fragmented or unaddressed content across various institutional websites. Methodologically, it is a qualitative, exploratory, and applied research, based on the inductive method and conducted through a monographic procedure. Data collection was carried out through documentary and bibliographic research, complemented by participant observation, considering the researcher’s involvement in the investigated environment, and by the analysis of informational demands directed to GR/SECADM. The theoretical framework is grounded in Institutional Communication, Information Management, and Content Curation, which provide support for the analysis and interpretation of the findings. The research contributes to Information Science by proposing curation and management strategies applicable to utility information in the context of public university administration.
