SUMMARY:

Living with the Semi-Arid region represents a paradigm grounded in the understanding that it is possible to coexist and thrive in this environment through the implementation of appropriate public policies, suitable economic activities, and the adoption of social technologies, including productive home gardens, which are one of the oldest forms of agricultural production. Productive home gardens are characterized as a social technology with intertwined dimensions that strengthen food sovereignty and promote the sustainable management of natural resources, serving as spaces for agroecological practices primarily managed by women. In this context, the study seeks to highlight how the work of peasant women in productive home gardens can reinforce the paradigm of living with the Semi-Arid region, focusing on the Quilombola Community of Macambira (RN) as the spatial scope. In this territory, quilombola peasant women produce food and perpetuate essential dimensions of coexistence with the Semi-Arid region. Therefore, the general objective of this work is to analyze the contributions of productive home gardens to strengthening coexistence with the Semi-Arid region in the Quilombola Community of Macambira, based on the work carried out by women. As specific objectives, we have:i) to investigate the relationship between productive home gardens and coexistence with the Semi-Arid region; ii) to characterize the productive home gardens of the Quilombola Community of Macambira; iii) to understand the dimensions of the productive home gardens in the Quilombola Community of Macambira. Methodologically, the research adopts a qualitative approach guided by the Pedagogy of the Territory. The first stage of the research consisted of a bibliographic review and narrative literature review for theoretical foundation. The second stage involved preliminary visits, extension activities, training, and political advocacy. The next stage will be fieldwork, conducted through focus groups and semi-structured interviews with the women. Finally, the last stage of the research methodology will be the systematization and analysis of the collected data.
