SUMMARY:

Female participation in the fields of Science and Technology has historically been influenced by gender stereotypes, impacting girls; interest and confidence in these subjects from Basic Education onward. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the potential of an Educational Escape Room as a pedagogical tool to promote the deconstruction of gender stereotypes and encourage female participation in scientific and technological fields. For this purpose, an educational product was developed focused on teaching Science and Machine concepts for
Middle School students, grounded in Gender and Feminist Studies and Science, Technology, and Society (STS) approaches. The objective was to highlight the influence of social and cultural contexts in the construction of scientific and technological knowledge. With a qualitative approach, the research was conducted with 7th-grade students and structured through the application of pre- and post-intervention questionnaires, participant
observation, and analysis of students; productions. The didactic sequence included gamified challenges organized into four thematic stations, each addressing scientific concepts and highlighting the role of female scientists throughout history. The activities were designed to stimulate problem-solving and collaboration among participants. The results indicated that the Educational Escape Room experience enabled greater participation of female students in the proposed activities. In mixed-gender groups, a differentiation in task distribution was observed, with girls predominantly engaging in puzzle interpretation while boys took on practical tasks. In groups composed mainly of girls, responsibility sharing was more balanced, suggesting that increased female representation may have promoted more equal engagement in scientific and technological dynamics.
Analysis of the questionnaires revealed that the experience contributed to broadening students; interest in the subjects addressed and fostering the appreciation of womens roles in science. It is concluded that the Educational Escape Room proved to be a didactic approach with the potential to stimulate girls; engagement in science and technology, challenging stereotypical conceptions and promoting more inclusive teaching.
