AN ANALYSIS OF THE BOOK “ELEMENTS OF GEOMETRY” BY CLAIRAUT AND A PROPOSAL OF ACTIVITIES ON THE AREA CONCEPT
Clairaut; Geometry teaching; History and Mathematical Education
This work develops a study of the work Elements of Geometry written by Alexis Claude Clairaut (1713-1765) using Depth Hermeneutics. From this study we intend to analyze the development and application of activities aimed at teacher training involving the concept of area from the approach by didactic materials that we consider representative of different approaches in relation to mathematics, highlighting Clairaut's work as a transition point of a more classic and formal approach from mathematics to another that is more intuitive and that referred to the beginnings of geometry as a practical science.
