Since its emergence, humankind has sought ways to protect itself, whether from inclement weather or external dangers. Ballistic vests, as a form of body armor, are used by police and military forces as personal protective equipment against projectiles in dangerous situations that are part of their routine. The ballistic vest is considered heavy and uncomfortable, restricting the movements of the wearer. It was generally designed to cater to the male public, considering that they make up the majority in the security field. However, studies reveal that the number of women in this field has been increasing over the years, and thus, they need protective equipment that meets their needs. The literature shows the growing level of discomfort women experience when using unisex ballistic vests; many report that even the smallest size is considered too large when worn. Articles indicate that women in the field experience breast and armpit pain caused by the flat shape of the vest, as well as interference with other equipment used during their work. In this sense, the objective of this work is to create a prototype ballistic vest specifically for women, taking into account the numerous anthropometric differences between male and female individuals. Differences such as smaller body structure, more pronounced waist and hips, shoulder width, and the presence of breasts are factors to be considered in the construction of a new ballistic vest. The literature reveals that the curvature for the breasts is an important characteristic for the women's vest; however, articles indicate that such curvature reduces the safety level of the equipment. Therefore, the prototype was created using the NIJ 0101.07 standard as a basis, clothing pattern making as the main technique, and the application of knowledge about ergonomics and kinesiology of movement. Finally, the base of the ballistic vest remains flat, but it adjusts better to the shape of the female body through alterations in the armholes, collar, and overall length of the vest.
