  • Information overload has brought out the need for improvement on individual knowledge and information management skills, as well as in the use of technological tools to support these processes. Personal knowledge and information management is a recent approach that combines the subjects personal information management, personal knowledge management and information literacy. Thus, the general objective of this study is to analyze the personal knowledge and information management of department secretaries at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). To achieve this objective, the following specific objectives were outlined: (i) Describe the personal knowledge and information management process of secretaries; (ii) Verify the difficulties and potential of secretaries in the management of personal knowledge and information; (iii) Propose strategies to improve personal knowledge and information management of secretaries. The objectives were achieved through an applied research of a descriptive and exploratory nature with a quantitative and qualitative approach, carried out through field research. Data collection was accomplished using questionnaires from sixty-six technical administrative staff working in secretariats of academic departments on the central campus of UFRN. The analysis of the collected data was fulfilled by using descriptive statistics and content analysis. It was observed that the mean scores on the general PKIM scale and its domains ranged from medium to very high values within the scale. There was a preference for contact with other people in the Search domain, and it was possible to determine wich virtual environments were considered the easiest and wich were the most difficult to locate instructional information. In the Organization domain, there was greater satisfaction with the storage structure on a personal computer/HD and dissatisfaction and low use of physical folder structures or paper printouts and notes in notebooks or binders. There was a preference for sharing information and knowledge virtually. Most participants responded that they did not have an instruction manual in their unit. From content analysis, it was possible to identify weaknesses in the search domain, in the use of digital sources, as well as in the organization, sharing and creation domains. For each difficulty highlighted, improvement strategies were outlined, such as the Unit Manual Model, the proposed Standards and Procedures module in SIPAC and the proposed PKIM Training Course. The high scores on PKIM scale suggests that the PKIM self-assessment scale is not very sensitive in identifying the difficulties faced. Thus, we propose that future studies be carried out that prioritize qualitative research methods, and that other administrative technicians research groups be considered, such as secretaries of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

  • Technological resources are increasingly present in libraries, thus making it necessary to understand how libraries experience this and how services are directed according to user needs. Amongst the technological resources present in libraries, virtual library platforms stand out, complex and dynamic environments with resources that aim to facilitate access and use of book collections. Virtual Libraries have become important resources in academic libraries. It becomes preponderant to analyze how the application and use of these resources in specific contexts takes place. In this scenario, the research problem arises: What is the informational behavior of the academic community of UFERSA/Campus Caraúbas in Rio Grande do Norte-Brazil aiming at the use of the existing virtual collection on the institution's virtual library platforms? Therefore, the general objective of the research consists of: proposing guidelines for the actions of the library of the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Árido/Campus Caraúbas with a view to enhancing the use of the virtual library collections. To achieve this, the following specific objectives were defined: a) to carry out a conceptual survey on academic libraries and informational behavior in the use of virtual libraries; b) characterize the Institution, it ́s collections and the community based on the institutional documents, as well as the report usage of the virtual platforms adopted in the UFERSA Library System; c) verify the bibliographic indications in the pedagogical projects of the courses at UFERSA/Caraúbas and if these reflect the physical and virtual collection of the Campus d) apply a case study to verify the informational behavior of the academic community regarding the Institution's virtual library platforms. The methodology employed was a qualitative-quantitative approach and descriptive exploratory in nature, with a bibliographic research method on the subjects concerning the addressed theme, exploratory documentary research for the characterization of the locus as well as a case study with questionnaire application. Thus, the investigative paths applied in this research contribute to the field of User Studies with an emphasis on Informational Behavior in the use of virtual information resources, such as virtual libraries. This study proposes improvements for the investigated Institution through the development of a Plan for virtual libraries. It seeks to establish a collaborative approach in the university setting, encompassing University Management, the Library System, and departments/faculty with a focus on joint initiatives to benefit the end user. It is concluded that the evolution of supports, changes in user profiles, and their informational needs must be understood to direct innovations in university libraries according to the needs of their users, aligned with the university's strategy and social trends.

  • This research is about the relationship between information systems (ERP) and informational behavior of users, seeking to answer the following question: what are the barriers and obstacles to the implementation of information systems (ERP) from the user's point of view? To this end, the general objective is to identify the main barriers that impact the implementation of information systems (ERP) from the user's perspective. Specifically, the study establishes five objectives: (1) to understand previous studies on the research theme; (2) to know the reality of the company object of study related to the Information Systems (ERP) and its users; (3) collect reports from users involved in the process implementing of these systems in the company under
study; (4) map, based on the results found, the main barriers that impact the implementation of systems; (5) propose an information systems implementation policy considering the gaps identified in the mapping. In order to achieve these goals, it uses descriptive research with an applied nature, a qualitative approach and a monographic perspective. Studying the case in depth, the techniques employed for data collection are documentary research, questionnaires, and interviews. To interpret the empirical material, it was based on Bardin's content analysis (1979) and, from this, it was possible to define, under the user's perspective, the main factors to the implementation of an integrated information system and how these factors were converted in barriers according their vision. The results indicate that the barriers perceived by users are related to the three dimensions proposed in Wilson's model (1989) – personal, social and environmental –, with the participants' informational behavior being directly affected by the relationship between the perceived personal and social barriers in relation to the roles they played within the context in which they were inserted. In this
way, it was possible to suggest the elaboration of a guide for implementing an integrated information system, providing concrete material for use and consultation.

  • In the current scenario, information in contemporary organizations has been increasingly consolidated as a strategic resource as it promotes value and directly influences organizational decision-making processes. In public institutions, although profit and competitiveness are not priority points to be achieved, the scenario is similar, reflected in the search for improving processes, reducing rework and increasing the quality of services provided. To this end, organizations have developed strategies to seek ways to better organize and manage the information that materializes in the form of documents, whether originating from the external environment or produced internally. This resource needs to be analyzed, processed, stored and retrieved as organizational processes take place. In this context, information management and document management more specifically, gain emphasis as strategies combined with the search for better control of the mass of documents produced in this context. Considering the needs to improve the processes linked to document flow management at the UFRN Speech Therapy Clinic-School, aiming for greater agility and precision in the storage, processing and retrieval and dissemination of information, increasing the quality of services in this environment in terms of security and privacy of the documents generated, alleviating problems such as the loss of essential documents for the unit, this research had the general objective: to diagnose how the use and flow of information occurs in the School Clinic with a view to proposing document management strategies for the unit. Seeking to achieve the general objective, specifically aimed to: Identify the documentary typologies present in the Speech Therapy School Clinic; Analyze the use of the SIGSAÚDE system as an electronic medical record system in the researched unit; Map the document flow processes in use at the School Clinic; Identify bottlenecks present in the document flow; Develop an intervention proposal with a view to proposing changes in the flow of information through document management tools. As for the methodology, the research had a qualitative-quantitative approach, being classified in terms of means as participatory research, considering the participation of the researcher and of the subjects inserted in the analyzed context, and the purposes as Exploratory, Descriptive and Applied research, in addition to documentary and bibliographical. The procedure method adopted in this research was monographic and data collection took place via semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, in addition to the use of an observation script. Results indicate that the absence of well-defined processes,  organizational methods inconsistent with the nature of the activities performed in the unit, in addition to the non-use of document management tools for the physical document mass generated, are the main generators of the bottlenecks identified. Added to this, it was concluded that the unit's dependence on the electronic medical records system used, which does not minimally meet informational needs, made information management inefficient and ineffective.

  • Universities as non-profit institutions aim to act as facilitators in the production of new knowledge, techniques and the promotion of methodologies that can potentially generate social, political and economic innovation. To fulfill these purposes, these organizations must apply communication strategies and the application of technological resources to disseminate research results, among other strategies. At the center of this process is scholarly communication, which acts as an important action for the dissemination of scientific information among peers and society in general. However, this process may present some limitations of varying nature, which may compromise scientific dissemination in a broad and effective way for the benefit of society. In this scenario, public science communication and scientific knowledge management appear and gain relevance and can be used as strategies to resolve these limitations. Considering the above, this research involves a study in two dimensions, one theoretical, in which it deals with a framework focused on the knowledge of operational concepts such as scholarly communication, scientific knowledge management and public communication of science and in its practical dimension , focuses on the empirical study of scientific communication practices and analysis of the incorporation of public science communication actions by research groups at the Biosciences Center of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) with the purpose of prepare a guide to good practices in this area. The methodology used in terms of nature was qualitative and quantitative, being exploratory-descriptive in accordance with the objectives. To describe and explain the phenomena a mixed research was carried out using the inductive approach method and the monographic procedure. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured questionnaires applied to the research group leaders of the Biosciences Center. Results indicate that the research groups at the aforementioned center cover a wide range of scientific areas. Regarding scientific communication practices, respondents indicate that they prefer to publish their results in peer-reviewed journals and through event annals. Other results highlight the lack of knowledge on the part of 47.8% of the community regarding the concept and practices of public science communication and also recognition of the need to improve scientific dissemination actions in this studied context. In view of the above, this study sought to contribute to the proposition of a guide of good practices for promoting scientific dissemination actions and internalization of public science communication practices in the aforementioned center with the potential to be applied in other contexts with similar objectives.

  • At present, numerous contents of information are being created and disseminated in the most diverse environments. Most of these materials are not accessible in Brazilian sign language (BSL), a phenomenon that is also noticeable at UFRN. However, with the increase of deaf people entering into higher education at UFRN, several documents were translated and created to guarantee accessibility to the deaf community. As a result, various contents accessible in BSL were produced, which are available in different informational environments. There is still a growing need for the creation of signal-terms in multiple scientific areas. Therefore, the present work aims to propose guidelines for the systematization and preservation of knowledge in BSL generated at UFRN. To achieve this objective, the following methods were used: the monographic method, the functionalist method, the structuralist method and the historical method. Also included are the techniques of documentary research and observation. As a result, the analysis of documents that regulate the translation and interpretation service were presented. The mapping of the different informational environments that examine findings regarding BSL at UFRN, along with the parameters of the process of creation of signs were analyzed for validation and registration of signal-terms. The proposal of guidelines for the systematization of information in BSL at UFRN aims to facilitate and expand access to these contents, with the aim of guaranteeing accessibility to deaf users.

  • The following master's research stems from the need for the Nucleo Temático da Seca e Semiarido do Rio Grande do Norte (NUT-Seca) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte to (re)assume with a critical perspective the axis of knowledge networks – as a mechanism of knowledge management strategy – around the domain of drought and semi-arid conditions to reinstate itself as a dynamic research agent in the field. For this purpose, the objective of the research was to carry out a mapping of specialized knowledge networks in the field of drought and semi-arid conditions that allow subsidizing proposals for knowledge management. The research mobilizes a theoretical framework that has as axes the social, situated, and contextual nature of knowledge; a critical perspective on Knowledge Management and the importance of the territory to anchor strategic analyses, as well as conceptual aspects on social networks and knowledge networks. As a methodological approach, Domain Analysis is used, considering its emphasis on exploring the social contexts of knowledge production and communication, in addition to its agents, documents and communication flows. As a result, the structure, components and characteristics were identified, as well as represented in the form of science maps informal and formal networks around the dry and semi-arid domain, elaborated from bibliometric methods and Social Network Analysis. Among the mapped networks are networks of co-authorship, co-citation, bibliographic coupling, and research groups. Based on these results, knowledge management strategies are proposed at NUT-Seca, based on academic partnerships, collaboration in networks and information products and services around the drought and semi-arid region.

  • In line with the open access movement, and with a view to preserving the institution's technical-scientific production, giving greater visibility to authors and the institution itself, in 2010 the Institutional Repository of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (RIUFRN) was established ). However, the number of articles published in journals available in the RIUFRN collections is relatively low if we compare it with the production of articles by professors and researchers at UFRN informed by the Scylax platform, created by the Metrópole Digital Institute of UFRN, which automatically collects the quantitative scientific production in the Lattes, Sucupira, Scopus and Orcid databases. Faced with this situation, the following question guides the research: how to improve the population of UFRN's institutional repository from a new deposit flow based on interoperability with Scylax? The overall objective, therefore, is to propose a new population flow of scientific articles for the UFRN institutional repository using the metadata collected by Scylax. Intended interoperability has three dimensions: organizational, semantic, and technical. In this sense, with regard to methodology, this is a research based on the action-research method. As part of the steps of the method, semi-structured interviews were carried out with the managers of the Institutional Repository of UFRN and Scylax, and meetings with the technical teams of RIUFRN to discuss the interoperability proposal, and design the population flow of scientific articles in RIUFRN. As a result, the finding of organizational, semantic and technical interoperability between Scylax and RIUFRN stands out. With the proposal of the new flow, the population of the repository is optimized by making a semi-automatic collection of the metadata of the scientific articles published by the UFRN researchers, collected by Scylax. After this metadata collection, the Digital Repositories Sector is responsible for checking the metadata and access licenses to the full text, searching for PDF files and making them available on the RIUFRN. From this flow based on interoperability with Scylax, it will be possible to more efficiently increase the volume of articles deposited in the RIUFRN.

  • Contemporary society requires from individuals to acquire new knowledge, skills and attitudes that can be configured as a competitive differential in the organizations where they are inserted. In this scenario, it emerges management models with a focus on people's intellectual capacity, such as Knowledge Management (KM) and Management by Competencies (MbyC). This study is going to investigate the contribution of KM as a strategy for MbyC, in the context of the Library System (SISBI – in Portuguese language), of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Therefore, it presents as general objective: to analyze the professional competences of SISBI librarians, in the light of KM. With the purpose of reaching the general objective, the following specific objectives were listed: a) to identify the librarians’ main professional competences; b) describe the professional competences that need to be developed; c) point out factors that support the development of professional competences and d) recommend the creation of a librarians’ competence bank for SISBI/UFRN. Therefore, the quadripolar method was used as a methodology, since it is an applied research, with a descriptive purpose, with an exploratory character and a qualitative approach, in the area of Information Science, whose data was collected through semi-structured interviews carried out with fifteen librarians with a coordination role or who previously performed such role. To interpret the collected data, Bardin's content analysis was used. Finally, through the results achieved, the research culminated in an intervention proposal that suggested the creation of a competence bank for SISBI/UFRN, which will enable the location of professional knowledge of librarians, constituting an important tool of KM for the aforementioned Library System, which can guide actions such as more assertive decision-making.

  • Competency-based management is a people-centered way of managing based on knowledge, skills and attitudes. Thus, the objective of this research is to analyze the core competencies of assistants in the library system at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), aligning them with the development of management by competence. The centrality of assistants was due to the fact that they are of paramount importance for the functioning of libraries, sometimes even being in greater numbers than librarians in these spaces. However, in the academic literature they are very little studied. To this end, the following specific objectives were assigned: a) to identify in the normative documents of the UFRN library system the services and work attributions destined to library assistants; b) characterize the profile of librarian managers who work in the UFRN library system, as well as the personal, professional and information skills considered important for the assistants' work performance; c) characterize the profile of the assistants who work in the UFRN library system, as well as their personal, professional and information skills; d) identify the demands for continuing education for the assistants from the librarian managers and the assistants themselves; e) propose recommendations for improving the professional performance of UFRN library assistants. In the theoretical context, a literature review is presented with emphasis on the themes: university libraries, management by competences; professional competence; personal competence; and information literacy, as well as documentary research on documents related to service routines established by the library system. The research methodology is characterized as an exploratory research of the descriptive type, which used as procedures the bibliographical research, documental research, case study, and questionnaire destined to the assistants and the librarians who manage the libraries. For data analysis, basic descriptive statistics and the Content Analysis technique were used. Nineteen questionnaires were answered by the managing librarians and 29 questionnaires by the assistants of several libraries that make up the UFRN library system. Based on the results of the research and the bibliographic survey, an action plan was prepared with recommendations for improving the professional performance of library assistants based on the methodological and theoretical constructs of management by competence.

  • Information is an intangible asset of great value to organizations and its management has become indispensable for the generation of competitive advantage, both in the private and public spheres. However, the excessive amount of information makes its management complex, mainly for the creation of knowledge and, consequently, for intelligence. As it is present in any company action, information is inherent to organizational processes. That way, the alignment of information management with the management of processes is an increasingly common practice. In this context, the joint use of tools such as Business Intelligence (BI) and Business Process Management (BPM) can contribute to efficient organizational management. In view of the above, the present study aims to propose a Business Intelligence solution aligned with a standardization of processes, through Business Process Management, to optimize the use of materials available in the warehouses of the academic centres of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, based on the assertiveness of information flows. The methodological course used was based on the inductive approach methodology and the methods of monographic and comparative procedure. The research is characterized as mixed, as quantitative and qualitative collection instruments were used. Thus, mixed-type questionnaires were used, with open and closed questions, which were applied to the coordinators of each warehouse. Semi-structured interviews were also carried out with these actors and aimed to obtain information for mapping processes through flowcharts. In the data analysis, descriptive statistics were used for the closed questions of the questionnaires, and the results were presented in tables and graphs. As for the open questions and semi-structured interviews, the qualitative data analysis process was used, as well as data triangulation. From the results obtained, it was possible to identify the actions that result in the inefficient use of the institution's materials, such as the lack of information sharing between the managers of the warehouses studied, referring to the materials available at the university. It was also identified the lack of records of essential information for the efficient management of stocks. In this way, a Business Intelligence solution was developed, through Power BI, as a proposal for a complementary tool to the system already used in the institution, for the management of information, as well as for its sharing. A standardized flow of process information was also prepared through Business Process Management, aiming to guide warehouse managers on the steps to be followed in the processes inherent to the sector, aiming at the efficiency in the use of these tools for the best use of university inputs.

  • With the increasing complexity of professional and business environments, information and knowledge are essential resources for adaptation, learning and innovation. In this context, effective knowledge management in public administration helps organizations to face new challenges, implement innovative management practices and improve the quality of public processes, products and services for the benefit of the citizen-user and society in general. Considering that the output of a server that owns the mastery of organizational processes represents loss of organizational knowledge and requires new investments and time for training, the research problem presents itself with the following question: how to manage the risk of loss of knowledge in the context of a federal institute of education? Thus, the general objective of this research is to audit the risks of loss of knowledge considering the types of movement and output of servers of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte - Campus Natal Central. The achievement of this objective is through the following specific objectives: a) identify the causes of loss of knowledge; b) classify the risks of loss of knowledge; c) identify the perception of the importance of knowledge management tools and practices; and d) propose actions, tools and practices applicable to risk management and loss of knowledge. For this, the intelligence audit method proposed by Carvalho (2022) was used. The research had as approach method the inductive method, with statistical and monographic procedures. From the point of view of objectives, it is characterized as descriptive and with regard to nature as applied research. As for research techniques, bibliographic research, documentary research, questionnaire application and interviews were used. Data analysis was based on descriptive statistics and content analysis. Based on this, it was possible to identify that the main risk of loss of knowledge occurs due to retirement. To mitigate the risks of loss of knowledge identified, a guide to implementing recommendations based on knowledge management tools and practices is presented.

  • The constant evolution of information, intensified by the technologies that characterize today's society, has provoked and demanded new interactions and positions from organizations regarding the process of creation, development, dissemination and use of services and products. In this context, knowledge management is evident, which through its tools and practices, can contribute to companies achieving positive results, promoting their development. However, organizations need to prepare themselves in order to propose actions that encourage communication and collaboration among their employees, aiming at improving their organizational management. As a result, knowledge networks are applied, which provide greater articulation within the informational units. In view of this, the research proposal focuses on improving the management of the Bibliocontas Network, an important instrument that contributes to the effectiveness and efficiency of the Courts of Auditors' performance in society. In this way, the general objective of this research is applied in proposing a portfolio of knowledge management tools and practices that contribute to the management of the Bibliocontas Network. This objective was operationalized through the following specific objectives: a) to identify the characteristics of the knowledge networks mentioned in the Brazilian literature; b) identify knowledge management tools and practices in Brazilian literature; c) characterize the Bibliocontas Network as a knowledge network; and, d) analyze the perception of information professionals working in the Courts of Accounts in Brazil in relation to the knowledge management tools and practices suitable for Bibliocontas. For this, in terms of methodology, the study is qualified in terms of approach, qualitative, applied in nature, being descriptive and exploratory depending on the objectives. As a data collection method, bibliographical research, documentary research, field research with the application of a questionnaire and a structured form were used. As for data analysis, a literature review, Bardin's content analysis, and data analysis using basic descriptive statistics were used. In view of this, the study proposed here will be a deepening of the theme, under an empirical bias, aiming to present how knowledge management tools and practices can promote the effective use of knowledge networks through the idealization of a portfolio, with recommendations that can be applied in other organizations that have characteristics similar to the Bibliocontas Network.

  • This study has as its theme the management of information, legislative information and access to information (democratization). And, for that, it is guided by the general objective of understanding how the management of legislative information can contribute to the institutional functioning, aiming at access to the bills of the Legislative Assembly of RN (ALRN). And, due to the specific objectives that are: to characterize the participants involved in the research (parliamentary); in addition to assessing the issue of transparency and access to information regarding bills from the perspective of deputies; as well as verifying the adequacy of the ALRN's management information systems regarding their effectiveness in providing access and transparency of bills; and, finally, propose actions that can be implemented to improve access and transparency of bills. In the theoretical context, it presents a literature review with emphasis on Information Management, and theoretical models of Information Management; in addition, it addresses the Access to Information Policy, and access to Legislative Information, as well as Information Transparency with a focus on the Access to Information Law. In the methodological aspect, this is an applied research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach and classified as a case study. According to the objectives, this is a descriptive and exploratory investigation. Its locus of research is the Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Norte. The population studied is formed by the parliamentarians (deputies) of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, with mandates in force in the legislature that ended in 2022, totaling a non-probabilistic sample for convenience of eight deputies, who answered interviews with open questions, based on the procedural model of information management proposed by Choo (2003). As for data analysis, it was performed through content analysis. From the results found, it appears that there is a need to improve the system available to insert the bills, with the aim of making it more accessible both for its internal users and for the external public, contributing to the democratization of information and publicizing the actions developed in the Legislative House. With this, some recommendations and suggestions are proposed, namely: qualification/training course, manual development, and website improvement. It concludes that the research objectives were achieved, that the results of the work can contribute to other institutions that wish to use the system. It was seen that in the context of IG, Choo's model (2003) was relevant as it supported the intervention proposal. Finally, it considers that future research is fundamentally necessary to analyze user behavior and system usability.

  • Topics related to public transparency, access to information, personal data protection, and privacy have gained greater prominence after the promulgation of the Brazilian Federal Constitution of 1988. Along with the development of information and communication technologies (ICTs), the Brazilian state has formulated a series of norms, laws, and policies aiming to meet constitutional precepts and satisfy society's demands. In this scenario, we can mention the Access to Information Law (LAI), the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), as well as the National Open Data Policy initiated by the federal government that motivated the creation of the Open Data Plan (PDA) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The objective of this work is to propose improvements to the Open Data Plan of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, based on the Access to Information Law and the General Data Protection Law. Regarding the methodology, the research has a qualitative nature, with exploratory objectives, and is developed from a case study. The literature review presents topics related to public transparency, access to information, privacy rights, data protection, and open data policy, with an emphasis on the Access to Information Law, the General Data Protection Law, and the Open Data Plan of UFRN. Documentary research was used for data collection. Data analysis was performed using the content analysis technique. The research results pointed to a greater conformity between the PDA and the LAI, while regarding the LGPD, a more unconcerned approach of the PDA was observed, presenting lower adherence. The PDA presented a correspondence of 11 (eleven) categories regarding the LAI, reflecting a rate of 73.33%. Regarding the LGPD, the Plan presented correspondence of 03 (three) categories, representing only 23.07% of adherence, indicating a low convergence rate between the studied materials. At the intervention level, the aim was to provide a plan containing 06 (six) actions to contribute to the process of updating the PDA, allowing for better alignment of the Plan with the studied legislation.

  • Faced with the constant need to improve its management of technical-administrative personnel, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte established on September 26, 2013 its own Committee on Technical-Administrative Personnel in Education – CPPTAE, through Resolution No. 041/ 2013 – CONSAD, linked to the Dean of People Management. Among the activities carried out by the commission, the process of distributing vacancies stands out, which has extreme strategic importance in the management of human resources at UFRN. This work aims to evaluate the quality of the information used in the process of distributing vacancies for technical-administrative employees at UFRN, considering the perspective of CPPTAE members. As specific objectives, the research aims to collect information used by CPPTAE members in making decisions regarding the vacancy distribution process; measure the quality level of information inserted in this context through the categorization of attributes; identify the points of deficiency and strength of each of the proven information from the perspective of the committee members; and propose improvements on the attributes assessed as deficient based on the diagnosis carried out, in order to optimize the process of distributing vacancies in the institution. The approach method used in the research is inductive, as the characteristics are observed and analyzed seeking to discover the causes of their manifestation. Regarding its nature, this work can be defined as applied social research with a mixed or quantitative and qualitative approach. As for the objectives, it is described as descriptive and exploratory. The universe is made up of CPPTAE members, all of whom belong to the UFRN staff and direct participants in the vacancy distribution process. Regarding data collection techniques, documentary research was initially used with the aim of defining what information is used to make decisions in the vacancy distribution process. Next, a questionnaire was developed based on the PSP/IQ Model, by Lee at al (2002), and applied to all CPPTAE members to measure the level of quality of the information evaluated. Finally, a focus group was held with a sample selected from among the participating members, with the purpose of complementing the analysis of information quality attributes diagnosed with insufficient levels and proposing improvements for each of them. To analyze the quantitative and qualitative data, descriptive statistics and coding were used. The research demonstrated the presence of deficient information quality attributes in the three documents evaluated and, subsequently, constructed an intervention proposal with suggestions for improvements for each of them, with guidance from Situational Strategic Planning (PES). It is expected that the indications for improvement presented here will contribute to generating in CPPTAE the initiative to face the challenges posed and, thus, be able to improve the institution's entire vacancy distribution process, generating as a consequence an increase in quality in the management of people the entire UFRN.

  • The core of the information society is characterized by the development and use of digital tools capable of enhancing and intensifying human capabilities to produce, consume and store information, and by presenting new conditions for it’s processing through the continuous improvement of available technologies. In this sense, the organizational environment is one of the contexts is perceived as the locus of these constant transformations and adjustments. The current scenario in which these organizations exist is increasingly demanding in terms of information quality, transparency, treatment, management as well as the behaviors associated with this process. In this context, ensuring full access to quality information within effectiveness has become a fundamental task, greatly affecting the functioning of these institutions. Thus, public institutions, as non-profit organizations, provide relevant services to society, including their internal and external users. In this type of organization, efficient management of information flows is essential for decision-making processes, requiring continuous and effective monitoring of the information that is produced, made available and stored. Thus, the present study aims to analyze the informational needs of internal users of the web page of Prorectory of People Managent at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, considering the emotional factors proposed by Kuhlthau (1991). The methodology used was bibliographic research that dealt with Information Management, Information Behavior and Digital Information Environments. The research had a quantitative-qualitative approach of applied nature. In relation to the objectives, it is classified as descriptive and exploratory using a monographic method. To collect empirical evidence, a semi-structured questionnaire was applied to internal users of the web page of Prorectory of People Managent at UFRN. Data analysis was done using simple statistics. Results obtained indicate satisfaction on the part of the portal's internal users, but the need for improvement in the site's structure is raised, specifically in relation to content, layout and organization of thematic categories. It was realized that in the context of Information Behavior, Kuhlthau's model (1991) was essential, as it guided the identification of users' informational needs as well as the proposed solutions to fill such gaps. It was concluded that the objectives were achieved in their entirety and that with their products they can contribute to the improvement of informational tools and the optimization of information flows within the scope of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, in addition to paving the way for future research that addresses and deepens the topic.

  • Reader training is a more recurrent theme in Education and Literature, but in Library Science and Information Science it seems to be restricted to school libraries. In turn, the themes of information mediation, cultural mediation and reading mediation have appeared in academic publications, mainly related to community libraries. Another type of library, university libraries, needs to discuss further its social role in terms of the dimensions of mediation, in particular, literary mediation, which can be understood as a form of reading mediation within a broader concept of mediation cultural. We believe in the potential of the university library as a place to promote the practice of literary reading through mediation actions. In particular, authors such as Rasteli, Almeida Júnior, Sanches e Rio, Nunes and Cavalcante, Perrotti and Pieruccini, among others, are called into the theoretical framework. This research is based on the application of a questionnaire aimed at the profile of the academic community regarding the behavior and habits of literary reading, as well as the uses they make of libraries. Furthermore, it seeks to answer how the libraries that are part of the Library System of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte could promote access to literary reading for their academic community. It was also considered extremely important to listen to library managers, so a structured interview was carried out with the librarians of the libraries that have the largest number of literary collections: the central unit and seven other sectors. Among the main results, it was recorded that more than half of the sample are seen as readers; they were reading literary books at the time of the research; they really like reading; they don’t tend to buy literary books frequently; make use of libraries for academic purposes (academic books and study); lack of time was the biggest impediment to using libraries; the majority do not use the library to borrow literary collections; never requested the purchase of literary books for libraries; The exhibition of books in the library and the use of social networks remain for users as the main strategies for promoting the libraries' literary collection. The librarians interviewed consider themselves literary readers, although the majority were not reading at the time of the research. The conceptual understanding of literary mediation left something to be desired, being a practice far from the librarians of the library system, with one exception. Problems were highlighted for this practice no to come to fruition, although everyone recognizes the importance of literary mediation for the community. In the end, a set of actions was proposed to encourage literary and mediation reading in the search for intellectual growth and a fuller and more civic-minded formation of the academic community.

  • Analyzes how continuing education contributes to the development of informational practices of librarians at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraíba. Specifically, it aims to: a) Map the academic continuing education actions carried out by librarians at the Federal Institute of Paraíba; b) Identify the discourse of IFPB librarians as a collective subject in relation to their informational practices; c) Propose a knowledge network of librarians from the Federal Institute of Paraíba with the purpose of sharing good practices carried out in each library. The theoretical framework is formed by the historical and conceptual contextualization of the themes: continuing education and informational practice in the professional context, as well as presenting a general overview of the Professional, Scientific and Technological Education Network of which the Federal Institute of Paraíba is a member. Descriptive in nature, the research opted for the monographic method and made use of questionnaire and structured interview techniques. The construction of the data collection instrument, interview, was based on the Bidimensional Model of Information Practices - Extended Version by Yeoman (2010). The analysis of the data collected from the interview will take place using the Collective Subject Discourse technique. The universe is made up of twenty-nine librarians from the Federal Institute of Paraíba, however the sample will be made up of librarians who are working in libraries, that is, twenty-three librarians. It presents an analysis of the results obtained from a methodological triangulation, that is, between the results obtained when applying the questionnaire, the statements collected during the interviews and the theoretical framework. Identifies the connections between the informational practices of IFPB librarians, with the steps suggested in the applied Model. As an intervention project, it proposes the creation of a knowledge network and sharing of good practices between the Institute's libraries. It is concluded that continuing education is essential for professionals to remain up to date, that the informational demands of the librarian's daily work require a multidisciplinary approach, forcing them to develop informational practices compatible with the information needs of their audience.

  • The advancement of technologies in recent years has allowed society to change the way it relates and one of the areas affected has been communication. With the emergence of instant communication tools, it is possible to establish real-time communication and, a few years ago, this impact also affected individuals' work activities, since such tools were included in organizational routines. This study therefore aims to understand how the acceptance and use of instant communication tools occurs in the internal communication of an organization, based on the perception of administrative assistants at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). To achieve the objective, a quantitative research was carried out, using procedures such as bibliographical research and survey. To obtain data, a questionnaire was applied, based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM 3) by Venkatesh and Bala (2008), with UFRN Administration Assistants. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and a seven- point Likert scale to evaluate the TAM3 constructs. As a result, it was obtained that there is a great use of the WhatsApp tool in the daily work of the research sample, and according to the analysis, this tool is well accepted among these employees, for the development of their work activities. However, it is also worth highlighting that there were some weaknesses diagnosed through the research, such as the lack of guidance on this use for work purposes by the institution, unsatisfactory service through the tools and lack of recognition of this usefulness by the institution. , to mitigate some weaknesses reported in this use, a Situational Strategic Planning (PES) was prepared, based on the Carlos Matus model, containing some actions that can be beneficial, such as the institutionalization of a tool, preparation of a tool use manual with the work purpose and offering a mini-course on customer service in digital media. This research brings academic strengthening on the topic, as well as contributions to the promotion and institutionalization of tools at UFRN, helping to strengthen its image by promoting improvements in its internal communication.

  • Considering the increasingly dynamic organizational environment, organizations must be clear about what their vision and mission are, making sure to translate them into actions, as well as spotting opportunities to allow a better present and future performance. Thus, the strategic alignment between information technology and business strategy is a guide to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Once managers understand the opportunities that information technology provides, the obstacles that hinder collaboration between information technology and the business strategy are mitigated. The strategic alignment consolidates the synergy between these two areas in a continuously improving process. Considering that, the goal of this study is to identify the promoting factors of the good strategic alignment between the management strategy and the information technology strategy within the organizational environment of the UFRN Education Center, and in possession of this diagnosis, elaborate an action plan to contribute with the institutional strategic alignment. The study was carried out based on basic qualitative research, which had the referred Center as a research object. Regarding the objectives, it is characterized as descriptive research. The instrument for data collection will be a semi-structured interview, conducted by an interview script, which was elaborated from the elements that promote the strategic alignment found in the literature and highlighted in Spósito models (2017) alongside the use of document analysis. Because they are responsible for the decision making related to the Center, the managers of UFRN Education Centerand the team of the Superintendence of Informatics, responsible for drafting the University's IT policy, were interviewed, amounting to a total of 10 respondents. The data analysis was carried out through a themed-qualitative data analysis technique. The current descriptive research seeks to obtain an accurate diagnosis of the factors that promote and inhibit this strategic alignment and, thus, recommend means to enhance the promotion of the positive elements related to strategic alignment.

  • Information management has been increasingly used in the organizational context, especially given the changes imposed by the current information age. In the public sphere this is also perceived due to the need to demonstrate the adequate and efficient provision of public service to society. In this environment are the Government Internal Audit Units, which act as information-producing units, since through their reports and recommendations, they provide the audited units with analyzes that aim to add value to organizations. These organizations, in turn, act as recipients or users of the information, and are responsible for implementing audit recommendations. Despite the value-adding potential of the recommendations, studies have shown that they are not being properly observed in Brazilian federal universities. Therefore, the general objective of this research is to audit the informational aspects of the recommendations issued by the Government Internal Audit Units that integrate Brazilian federal universities. This general objective is operationalized through the following specific objectives: 1) analyzing the existing literature on information asset auditing; 2) to characterizing the internal audit units that integrate federal universities in Brazil; 3) analyzing the perception of auditors and auditees seeking to identify variables that impact on compliance with the recommendations; 4) identifying the most significant variables that negatively impact compliance with the recommendations; and 5) proposing improvement recommendations for the Government Internal Audit Units. To achieve them, a mixed nature research was carried out, contemplating qualitative and quantitative approaches, also characterized as descriptive and exploratory, regarding the objectives. The intelligence audit method proposed by Carvalho (2010) was applied and for data collection, bibliographic research, document analysis, questionnaire, interview and form were used. For data analysis, in addition to descriptive statistics, content analysis and multiple linear regression were used. Based on these analyses, it was observed the existence of three components with twelve main variables that negatively impact compliance with the recommendations issued by government internal audits. In view of the findings, a methodological triangulation was carried out in which recommendations were proposed to the Government Internal Audit Units.

  • The survival of organizations in society permeates the way they manage their resources in order to achieve their objectives. Higher Education Institutions, specifically those at the federal level, as non-profit civil organizations, aim to offer high-level educational services generating innovation for society as a whole. In order to achieve these actions, units and human resources that play a fundamental role in this process. At the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) one of the fundamental sectors that promote systems management system is Human Resources Management. At UFRN, it is composed of various sectors and among these the Tender Coordination, which is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing public tenders and selective processes for the admission of technical-administrative and professor staff, prepare public notices for the admission in addition to guiding and providing information on these processes. This work has the general objective: to analyze the tender module of the Integrated System of Human Resources Management of the Coordination of Personnel Management of UFRN, with a view to proposing improvements in its processes in the light of the Information management. Specifically, it aims to: identify the legal demands for the formalization of processes in digital format; describe and characterize information flow the module.; present the examination board participant profile; identify and analyze the main obstacles in the process in the module in the light of informational behavior through the application of the model proposed by Kuhlthau (1991). As an intervention proposal, it aims to develop a technical manual in this context. The methodology used was bibliographic research considering issues related to Information Management, Information Flow as well as Process Management. The research had a quantitative-qualitative approach; regarding the nature it was applied, and regarding the objectives, it was classified as descriptive and exploratory. Additionally, it used Documentary Research as it considered documents related to legal aspects such as resolutions and decrees. The call records of the last three contests carried out before any improvement in the contest system/module and of the three contests carried out after some improvements implemented in the contest system/module were verified. The research techniques used were Participatory Investigation. From the results found, it appears that there is a need for improvement in the system/module of contests, in order to provide greater efficiency in the processes. Some recommendations and suggestions are proposed, namely: training/training course, improvement of the system and creation/development of the manual. It concludes that the research objectives were achieved, that the results of the work may contribute to the new competitions held at UFRN, as well as to other institutions that wish to use the system. It was seen that in the context of GI, the model of Kuhlthau (1991) was relevant as it supported the intervention proposal. Finally, it considers that future research is necessary in this area.

  • The regional networks of repositories are part of the Brazilian Network of Institutional Repositories of Open Access Scientific Publications (RIAA), created by the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT). Through the collaboration of practices and experiences in their regions, they intend to expand the Open Access pathways in Brazil, based on the repositories implemented and managed by Higher Education Institutions (IES) and research institutes. This research sought, with a view to Knowledge Management, to propose strategies to promote the consolidation of Communities of Practice among repositories networks in order to promote the sharing of knowledge and good practices for the development of repositories in Brazil. As specific objectives, the research sought: 1) to characterize how knowledge is shared in international and Brazilian repositories networks; 2) to identify people, groups and institutions likely to form Communities of Practice with the regional networks of repositories in Brazil; 3) to detect the possible actions, practices, services and products of sharing and integration; 4) to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for the cultivation of the Community of Practice among regional networks of repositories in the country; 5) to propose a model of phases and actions to support the cultivation of the national Community of Practice. The research is characterized by qualitative approaches. In this way, bibliographic research was carried out to conform a theoretical framework, documental research on websites of international and Brazilian networks of repositories to identify the existence of services and products that allow sharing of knowledge in Communities of Practice and a survey of data through semi-structured interviews with network managers and a sample of participating professionals. A content analysis of the interviews was carried out based on six defined categories fundamentally related to the ways of sharing knowledge within and between networks. From these analyzes a SWOT matrix was created to identify strengths, weaknesses opportunities, and threats for the cultivation of the Community of Practice. Wenger, McDermott and Snyder's (2002) five-phase model for cultivating Communities of Practice was used to support the proposal. Among the main results, it was identified that the communication between among the networks and the IBICT was carried out in a punctual way and considered insufficient; that among the five networks, only one had a structure of collective construction with its members in all phases of elaboration of actions until the decision making; the need to encourage more effective communication and exchanges between networks, to effectively meet the definition of a network as a link made up of points that connectto each other; that despite being reported discomfort about the need for greater approximation by IBICT, there is the recognition that IBICT deals with the same difficulties as professionals in their institutions, with cuts in investments and lack of personnel contracts. The research proposes a five-phase model (Prepare, Launch, Expand, Consolidate and Transform) with recommendations that include diagnosis of regional networks of repositories; action plan for cultivating the Community of Practice; holding events to share experiences; creation of a web platform for sharing information from regional networks of repository; standardization of documents (bylaws, policies, etc.) among others. It is concluded that knowledge networks are one of the relevant expressions of knowledge management and that communities of practice, as a manifestation of knowledge networks, can effectively contribute to the production, conversion and transfer of knowledge and good practices useful for the context studied here of Brazilian repositories networks.

  • Information is configured in contemporary society as something inherent to sociocultural phenomena exercised by subjects, whether in personal as well as organizational contexts. Managing information resources becomes increasingly challenging in this society, due to the growing and accelerated movement of production and consumption of information. The Library System of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - SISBI/UFRN is configured as an organization that produces and depends on information and organizational knowledge to carry out its activities. These inputs are inserted in an informational flow which we consider that delineates and is delineated by the information regime, so it is our intention in this work to highlight this relationship. The main objective of this research was to analyze the organizational information management actions developed by SISBI/UFRN librarians from the identification of the Information Regime - RI. In this way, it presents as specific objectives: a) to characterize the organizational information management processes carried out by SISBI-UFRN librarians, contextualizing them within the scope of RI; b) identify the relationship between the flow of production and use of organizational information by SISBI-UFRN librarians and RI; c) identify and characterize the elements of the information system that outline the processes of production and use of information by SISBI-UFRN librarians and d) present some recommendations in order to optimize the activities of production and use of organizational information at SISBI/UFRN. Furthermore, it is configured as a social research, whose theoretical foundation is based on the concepts of information regime and information management. The approach used is qualitative, with exploratory and descriptive objectives. The procedure method is the case study, having the SISBI/UFRN as an empirical field. The procedures for data collection used were: bibliographic research and documentary research (indirect documentation) and closed questionnaires and semi-structured interviews (direct documentation). Descriptive statistics and Laurence Bardin's (2011) content analysis technique were used for data analysis. The results present the mapping, identification and characterization of the SISBI/UFRN information regime, highlighting the informative relationships established between the elements of the regime, which characterize the flow of production and use of organizational information in SISBI/UFRN, with librarians of that system. It is concluded that this specific information regime, structures and is structured by the actions of organizational information management carried out by librarians. Finally, as a practical result of the research, we propose a set of recommendations, systematized by the use of the 5W2H tool, in order to optimize the activities of production and use of organizational information carried out by SISBI/UFRN librarians.

  • The transformations through which government internal audit units have gone through in recent years have approximated them to information asset audits that, in their essence, are consultative audits, due to the need for convergence of good Brazilian standards to international practices. As a result, governmental audits began to focus their efforts on assessment and consultancy in terms of governance, risk management and internal controls. In this sense, the ecological approach to information proposed by Davenport, which emphasizes the information environment in its entirety, with emphasis on culture, behavior and information policy, presents the ideal conditions to collaborate with this change since it emphasizes personal and informational behavior, being concerned not only with providing information, but also facilitating its effective use, helping individuals to search, share, structure and make sense of information. The general objective of this research is to analyze, from the managers' perspective, the contributions of the government internal audit unit of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte to the decision-making process. For that, it is intended to characterize the UFRN internal audit unit as a producer of strategic information; to prepare a profile of internal audit and its informational products in the view of UFRN managers; to identify the informational needs of UFRN's senior management members in the decision-making process; verify which elements influence the use or not of audit reports in the decision-making process by UFRN's senior management; and, finally, to identify ways to expand the information needs related to decision-making by the members of UFRN's senior management. To achieve them, a verification of the degree of adherence to procedures and products of the governmental internal audit unit to the classic method proposed by Platt (1974), the principles of production of strategic information, was carried out; interviews with the University's senior management members; and an intervention proposal was elaborated containing recommendations for informational audit products aimed at improving the quality of the products of the governmental internal audit unit, meeting the informational needs of managers and, consequently, the provision of services to society.

  • Among the Information Technologies (IT) that enable improvements in the performance of informational activities, cloud computing tools stand out. Pillars of the so-called fourth industrial revolution, these tools provide advantages such as online data storage, collaborative work, ease of access and information sharing. However, even in the face of the potential benefits and other possibilities arising from the use of such technology, it is not yet fully understood how these tools are accepted and used by individuals. This gap is also present in the work context of educational institutions, causing organizational efforts and resources to be wasted and promising technologies for improving services to be unusable. In view of this, the present research aimed to describe the acceptance and use of cloud computing in the performance of informational and knowledge activities among technical-administrative officers of Postgraduate secretariats of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. The methodological approach used was based on a quantitative and descriptive approach. As a research strategy, a survey was carried out, through the application of a questionnaire based on the Model of Acceptance and Use of Integrated Technology, TAM 3, in addition to sociodemographic questions, applied to UFRN Postgraduate secretaries, to capture their perceptions with regard to the use and acceptance of cloud computing tools. The population was divided into two groups, who responded to the survey regarding cloud storage tools and document editors, respectively. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, using measures of central tendency and dispersion, in addition to frequency distribution, and a seven-point likert scale to assess the TAM3 constructs. As a result, it was possible to verify, regarding the evaluation of the acceptance of cloud computing by users in the organization, a high incidence and frequency of use. The most used tool typologies were e-mail, followed by storage and finally by cloud document editors, in which the vast majority make use mainly of Google products. Regarding the two models researched, storage and document editors, it was seen that the purposes of use range from general to more specific. Both types of tools reached very similar results with identical or very close acceptance levels. Of the 50 inquiries made based on the TAM3, only 8 obtained slight quantitative differences, with distinction of the degree of acceptance, however, the comparative analysis found that there was no significant difference. Finally, it became evident that the cloud technologies evaluated here are presented with appropriate use and showing that the applications are true allies to the Information and Knowledge Management practiced by the secretaries in their workplaces. Finally, it became evident that the cloud technologies evaluated here are presented with appropriate use, showing that the applications are true allies to the Information and Knowledge Management practiced by the secretaries in their workplaces. A plan was also developed to strengthen the use and acceptance of cloud computing tools, with the help of the Project Model Canvas tool, aiming to improve the use of the cloud computing typologies studied and, consequently, the structuring of excellence of the Postgraduate programs.

  • Over the years, society has changed its way of interacting, and this would be no different when it comes to the formation of its social networks as a whole, including institutional ones. Thus, the main objective of this research is to analyze the importance of information and knowledge management in the fight against disinformation in the institutional social network (Instagram) of UFRN. For the development of the research, the article will be divided into three parts. Initially, it will be described on Information and Knowledge Management – IKM, will then be chosen and the definition of selection will begin, a discussion based on social authors will be developed, which will discuss with emphasis on institutional means. The realization of this justifies the need to analyze if there is really the importance and the work of the IKM in the fight against the social network (Instagram) of UFRN. The research will be carried out through descriptiveexploratory research, this as a study of facts that observes, relates, and or phenomena without the use of management and with the application of an interview with the manager of the campaign “A universidade não pode parar” (The university cannot stop). In the analysis of the results, it was verified that Information Management is important in the fight against disinformation and with this it generated a series of future proposals such as having a permanent campaign using multiplatforms and with all this giving the possibility to create manuals / booklets to assist in the fight of misinformation. With the end of the research, it is seen that the theme addressed can still be deepened and bring new studies to the area, it was evident through the analysis and interview that information management helps and permeates the dissemination of more feasible news.

  • In the so-called “Age of Knowledge”, information has become one of the main inputs for institutions that seek success. In this context, Information Management (IM) and Strategic Communication are important practices for achieving institutional objectives of any company or organization. Therefore, this research has the general objective of identifying how IM can optimize the use of Marketing in organizational contexts. From the methodological point of view, the characterization of this work is exploratory, whose approach is the inductive method, with Systematic Literature Review. This work also carried out a bibliographic research about IM and Marketing; selected scientific works that approach both areas; synthesized and presented research findings; drew inferences about the research results and, finally, prepared a proposal for an IM plan aimed at Marketing. The work also makes use of IM models validated by authors in the area and considers particularities of Marketing, especially Information Marketing. Thus, the present work resulted in the creation of a proposal for an IM model for Marketing. At the end of the work, conclusions were also made about the main points discussed here, as well as possible developments of this research.

  • For the electoral process to develop in a transparent, safe and effective way, some pillars of democracy need to be preserved, such as freedom of expression, conceived as a fundamental right, which guarantees citizens the free expression of thought. With the advent of the electronic ballot box, there was a significant increase in the security of the electoral process, compared to the previous model. On the other hand, in the context of elections, there is also a significant increase in false, biased, imprecise information, popularly known as Fake News, putting into question not only technological advances in the field of electoral justice, but also Brazilian democracy. As for the objective, the research will be exploratory in nature, as the intention here will be to explore the problem of disinformation in the electoral process for a better understanding, as well as serving as a subsidy for future investigations. With a view to dialoguing on this theme, the research in focus has as general objective "to map practices to combat disinformation in the Electoral Court, pointing out, from the perspective of information and knowledge management, procedures to be adopted by the Regional Electoral Court of Rio Grande do Norte, to make its actions more efficient in combating disinformation.” As methodological procedures, the research is characterized in terms of the approach to the problem, as a qualitative study, since the analysis of the theme of disinformation in the electoral process will seek the essence of its phenomenon, investigating its nature and scope, and not restricted to mere counting or description. Bibliographic and documentary research will be used to build the theoretical framework, and data collection on the TREs websites, to analyze documents from different electoral justice bodies, as well as foreign organizations. As data collection instruments, questionnaires with open and closed questions will be developed with the civil servants of TRE/RN and voters of the state of Rio Grande do Norte.

  • Social and technological changes influence the usars (informational subjects) needs in
university libraries. With this, these organizations need to innovate (adapt and create)
their products and services to meet these needs and, therefore, maintain their clientele,
attract new users and fulfill their role. In the light of the above, our study has as a
general objective: To develop a booklet that presents recommendations that considers
aspects of creativity and serendipity in the process of university libraries products and
services innovation. Regarding the methodological path, in this study we have as
universe of research the librarians, who work in northeastern Brazilian federal
universities libraries, for sample we selected one university of each state, as an approach
method, we used the inductive method of procedure field study and three methods of
data collection, i.e.: bibliographic, questionnaire and daily record of serendipity
experiences. The results indicate that serendipity is a phenomenon that favors the
conception of creative ideas, and therefore contributes to the innovation process. There
are tools and practices that favor the creative/innovative process and the occurrence of
serendipity experiences. It is concluded that serendipity and creativity must be
observed in the process of innovation of products and services of university libraries.
And the factors that favor serendipity, creativity and innovation in the organizational
context must be observed and managed.
