  • ABSTRACT The focus of this work was to research the physiotherapeutic parameters recommended by the various official health bodies in Brazil for the treatment of patients affected by the COVID-19 virus, aiming to better guide UFRN design engineers in the design and development of a low-cost portable mechanical ventilator prototype. that is effective, safe and ready to meet the minimum health requirements necessary to successfully apply for registration with ANVISA (National Health Surveillance Agency). The methodology adopted was hypothetical-deductive, approaching descriptive and applied research. As results, the tests and validation of the initial hypotheses are presented, associated with technical information on the suggested adjustments so that the ventilators meet the minimum medical-physiotherapy needs. Considering that the requirements are not limited to the health area, but also involve engineering constraints, a flowchart guide was developed addressing the bureaucratic steps and engineering standards that need to be consulted and adopted. Additionally, the contributions arising from this research culminated in the filing of a patent for the innovative low-cost equipment. It is also noteworthy that the ventilator provides, in an unprecedented way, a very important physiotherapy alarm that corresponds to the. driving pressure and which is non-existent, even in the most sophisticated commercial ventilators. This means that it has a strong potential to prevent deaths from serious lung injuries. Overall, it is concluded that a few details remain to be fulfilled concerning the medical-physiotherapy field, but are easy to implement, so that the ventilator is ready to face pre-clinical studies in animal models, followed by clinical studies in humans. Therefore, the main adjustments refer to the sound implementation of some alarms. It will be essential to include the assisted mode to use during weaning. It is also concluded that it is necessary to increase the size of the bellows from 1000 ml to 1200 ml to meet AMIB requirements so that the minute volume reaches up to 70 liters/minute. Finally, although the scientific community, to date, does not recommend the use of a single traditional equipment to ventilate more than one patient, with the new ventilator design that is the focus of this research it is concluded that this challenge has been overcome, as it does allow ventilate two differentiated lungs respecting the individuality of each patient and without risk of cross-contamination.

  • The constant changes in the market and in organizations have required companies to adapt to meet the needs of consumers. Within this process, Lean appears as an alternative tool, bringing in its principles the reduction of waste, costs and risks, in addition to providing an improvement in the quality of service provision. In the health area, the term “Lean Healthcare” was adopted, which has been applied as a strategy for organizing and managing the care offered to patients in emergency hospital environments with the intention of solving recurrent problems in this sector associated with overcrowding and waiting times excessive, delays, and other situations that generate risk and dissatisfaction to the user. The aim of the study was to seek scientific evidence in the literature about Lean Healthcare and its applicability in the medical emergency sector. It is an integrative literature review of an applied nature on the Lean Healthcare method in the health sector. Data collection was carried out in the databases from January to April 2020 using a structured form with specifications according to their title, authors and year, methodological approach and contribution of the study. It is possible to observe, through research, the successful application of the Lean Healthcare method in the emergency sector, which is a contributing factor in management, remedying deficiencies faced in this scenario and providing strategies aimed at improving the efficiency of service delivery to patients. The researched authors are unanimous in reporting that the method allows care to flow satisfactorily, however, there is a need for all sectors of the hospital to adopt it. The management of the medical service presents constant challenges as well as a multiplicity of actors, whether professionals, users and the managers themselves who need to be trained and informed. It was seen that, before the implementation of the method, it is necessary to think about the entire flow of actions that should be adopted from primary care to the urgency and emergency network, thus improving the patient flow with low-cost procedures. Some authors suggest the application of the method in the supply chain of hygiene materials, medicines and in the most used equipment in the hospital, mainly in the logistics and distribution of inputs. Studies have shown that, although the applicability of Lean Healthcare is indisputable, there is a need for further research aimed at analyzing the real effectiveness of Lean healthcare in emergency

  • The objective of this study is to develop an application prototype for the management of educational activities aimed at nursing professionals using a low code platform, specifically the Microsoft 365 Power Apps®, in order to organize and systematize the information generated by the actions of permanent education and optimizing the work process of professionals who work with educational activities. The present study is being carried out in a Federal University Hospital of Paraná, in the Permanent Education Committee in Nursing, through a methodological research that will follow the following steps: delineation of the research theme, definition of objectives, construction of knowledge and definition of the strategy methodology, elaboration of the database (lists), construction of the prototype and tests. It was based on the User-Centered Design Model, which places the user and their needs at the center of all decisions in creation, and is characterized by four stages that are defined as observation/research, design, prototype and test. The lists that make up the database integrated in Power BI® were created, a proposal for the application's homepage built in SharePoint® and the prototype developed in Power Apps®. The study made it possible to develop a prototype for managing educational actions aimed at the nursing team and its use can be expanded to continuing education services in nursing and to the Personnel Development Units that are part of the EBSERH network. With the possibility of managing this information through the application, in addition to modernizing the way of doing it, it optimizes the work process of professionals who work with educational activities. The management of training costs can guide decision-making, when analyzed in conjunction with other care indicators. It is important to emphasize the importance of specialists in the development of software, which would have been carried out more quickly as stated in the proposal to use low code platforms. However, the proposal was really to use the technological tools available to everyone who works in the university hospitals of the EBSERH network. The construction of the prototype, by the professional nurse, was a challenging and positive experience in professional and personal development, bringing new technologies to the work routine.

  • Introduction: In order for university hospitals to achieve an improvement in economic sustainability, it is necessary to have quantitative and qualitative financial goals, agreed with the SUS manager in the region where the hospital is located, defined according to the structure of the hospital and through a document binding is called Hospital Contracting. It seeks to effectively monitor the strategic indicators defined in this essential instrument for the financial balance of the hospital. The lack of definition of monitoring processes and tools
causes several management challenges, which make it difficult to implement continuous improvement of services provided to the Brazilian population. In addition, employees involved in hospital production do not have a tool to
monitor the performance of their production unit in real time in relation to the goals agreed in the contract. Faced with this scenario of lack of definition of visual management tools (GV) for monitoring strategic indicators related to hospital production in the scope of contracting, this proposal for health technology emerged with the objective of developing an electronic panel using business intelligence and based on Hospital Contracting . Method: methodological study, using the guidelines and goals of the Strategic Master Plan of the Hospital Universitário Júlio Bandeira, a branch of EBSERH, to collect the quantitative indicators to be monitored. The quantitative goals selected to compose the management panel were divided into two categories: Medium
Complexity Outpatient Health Prevention and Promotion Actions, Procedures with Diagnostic Purpose, Clinical Procedures and Surgical Procedures; Medium Hospital Complexity: Hospitalization by Specialty. In all, it resulted in 23 indicators to be modeled and inserted in the management panel through the information contained in the University Hospitals Management Application. For the developed management panel, the entire data modeling process was carried out using the Power Query functionality of the Power BI Desktop

  • In recent years, the creation of public policies, the advancement of medicine, associated with the incorporation of new technologies, the use of increasingly effective treatments, in addition to the development of various pediatric subspecialties, combined with the proliferation of pediatric and neonatal intensive care units , contributed to change the epidemiological profile of the population, with an increase in chronic diseases, a reduction in infant mortality and a decline in acute conditions. In this context, a new approach to care emerges, aimed at assisting patients with diseases that cannot be cured through a new therapeutic concept: Palliative Care. In view of this, the present work aims to develop an educational resource on Palliative Care aimed at professionals and students in the health area and also at civil society, through the Virtual Learning Environment of the Unified Health System. It is an action-research with a qualitative approach, which is characterized by identifying and solving collective problems, through investigation based on a self-reflection of the actors and researchers involved. The research was built in two stages: analysis of the knowledge of nursing professionals about Palliative Care aimed at hospitalized children with chronic conditions carried out in 2020 and the elaboration of a pedagogical design on Palliative Care for health professionals, through the creation of a free course on the AVASUS platform. It was observed that the professionals did not understand the philosophy and objectives of Palliative Care, showing a gap in the training of professionals and emotional fragility in the face of the death process. In this way, the product of this project aims to improve the practices adopted in care, in order to instruct for Palliative Care, as well as to generate improvements in the quality of care as it may bring subsidies to support the planning of its actions and the enrichment scientific.

  • In Brazil, as well as in other countries, organizational terms appear in health, almost permanently. Among the terms that emerged at the end of the last decade are the Internal Regulation Center (NIR) and the Regulation Center (CR), which quickly passed through government agencies, regulating their practicalities. However, after approximately four decades, there are still few educational resources in this regard, both in government and private instances. Thus, in view of the current national scenario, the present work is intended to produce a course, with a view to contributing to the training and qualification of health professionals who work in the Internal Regulation Centers. The research is a qualitative approach, developed through an action-research whose main characteristic is intervention. It is developed in a cooperative regime between researcher and participants, when evaluating the problem or collective phenomenon investigated. During the years 2019 to 2021, visits were made to the Internal Regulation Centers of the hospital units that are managed by the state of Rio Grande do Norte. In all, 12 hospitals were visited and, through meetings held with the teams of the hospital units, deficiencies and difficulties were identified. From the survey of the difficulties of training work, an educational module was produced that will be made available on the Virtual Learning Environment platform of the Unified Health System. The module consists of two units, each unit contains three classes, with a total workload of 15 hours. The module followed the flow of new courses developed by the Education and Communication team at the Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. The final product is a course with educational content, in a linear and unidirectional way for the target audience. It is conclusively observed that, as well as the few educational resources on the internal core of regulation and the central regulation, there is also a shortage in the practical understanding of the performance of the interface between these two entities. Therefore, it is necessary to implement new measures to address this issue.

  • Introduction: Peritoneal dialysis (PD) consists of the insertion of sterile dialyzer fluid, containing glucose and electrolytes, into the peritoneal cavity through a flexible catheter (Tenckhoff catheter). The peritoneum has a filter-like function, allowing the exchange of solutes. Although it is considered a very effective treatment, Peritoneal Dialysis is still underused in Brazil. Among the various factors that contribute to the low use of PD, there is the lack of training and inexperience of the health professionals responsible for the care of this patient. Objective: To develop a Standard Operating Protocol (SOP), aimed at nurses, to standardize and improve care for pediatric patients on peritoneal dialysis. Method: This is an action research study, to be carried out with nurses who work in the Pediatric Unit of the Onofre Lopes University Hospital (HUOL), and which will consist of four stages, aiming at the production of a standard and operational protocol. training of the nursing team for its use. As this is a research involving human beings and in compliance with Resolution No. 466/12, this project will be forwarded to the Teaching and Research Management of HUOL in order to obtain authorization to carry out the study in the pediatric unit of the respective hospital, be forwarded immediately to the Ethics and Research Committee of HUOL/UFRN. Expected results: With this study, we seek to improve the knowledge of nursing professionals about the care to be provided to children and adolescents undergoing peritoneal dialysis treatment, in addition to standardizing the procedure for performing peritoneal dialysis. It is expected that there will be a significant reduction in complications and harm to patients related to the procedure

  • Introduction: Among the objectives of the National Policy on Regulation of the Unified Health System (SUS), the organization, control, management and prioritization of access to health care and care flows, under the responsibility of
public managers and executed by the regulatory complex and its operational units, including medical regulation, exercising health authority to ensure access based on protocols, risk classification and other prioritization criteria, stand out. In Rio Grande do Norte, the State Secretary of Public Health (SESAP/RN), through the Health Regulation and Evaluation Coordination, and the Regulation Centers (Metropolitan and West) carry out the regulatory process for access to beds in Intensive Care Units (ICU) in the scope of SUS/RN. Problem: Until April 2020, the Beds Regulation Centers did not have computerized systems for
this regulation, making it difficult to access beds quickly and transparently in the regulatory process, in a regionalized manner, jeopardizing compliance with the SUS principles of equity, integrality and universality. Objective: To unify the Protocol of Access to ICU beds in the scope of SUS/RN, so that the Bed Regulation Centers can use the criteria established by the Regional Council of
Medicine of Rio Grande do Norte (CREMERN), and add a sub-classification using the Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment Scale (qSOFA), to guide the regulator in decision making, with support of a Regulation System - Regula
RN - General beds. Methodology: From the analysis of the protocol currently used for prioritization of access to ICU beds, point out the vulnerabilities of this method and suggest the use of the qSOFA Scale as an objective criterion to establish sub-classifications of the priorities resulting from the current criterion, with the help of a regulation platform - Regula RN/Leitos Gerais, in a structured and transparent way and provide the user with the most appropriate care to their health needs. Expected Results: From reformulations of the protocol for access to ICU beds, it is intended to ensure transparency, equity and increase the efficiency of regulatory processes in SUS/RN and bring more celerity and social justice to the main stakeholders, the patients waiting for an ICU bed.

  • The connection between the funding of teaching hospitals and the formalization of a contract instrument, through the Descriptive Document containing the qualitative-quantitative and physical-financial goals, with city and states health managers, has a key role in the sustainability of these institutions. The monitoring of this instrument, however, presents difficulties that can compromise the fulfillment of these goals. To mitigate the risks of financial loss, this paper proposes the developing of a management, monitoring and contract evaluation application. The application will be designed from the evaluation of the contract 01/2020, of Huab-UFRN with the Municipal Health Secretariat of Santa Cruz/RN and with the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, as an intervener, and intends to monitoring the four axes that regulate it: Health Assistance, Management, Teaching and Researching, and Evaluation. To support the designing of the application, an integrative literature review is under production, by the evaluation of texts published in four databases of scientific works: Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde – BVS (BIREME), Scopus, Pubmed e Web of Science. Whereas this work pretends to deliver a technological product, a technological research is also being done. A prototype of the application was designed from the categorization of the Descriptive Document. From the surveys with hospital managers and health secretariat managers, an assessment of the needs presented to define the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) will be carried out. After the delivering of the MVP, the application will be in a continuous flow of feedback to promote additions and adjustments resulting from use. After implementation, there is the potential for use in the other hospitals of the Ebserh Network and the assimilation of new elements, such as the monitoring of internal management agreements.

  • Introduction: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a degenerative, irreversible, and limiting neuromuscular disease. Due to its rare condition and little knowledge of society, it is evident the relevance that the disclosure about this disease has for the promotion of research which can directly reflect on the health promotion of individuals living with ALS. Faced with the diversified possibilities of scientific divulgation, the audiovisual language, through the format of a web series for social media, emerges as a functional alternative given its digital and accessible characteristics. Objective: The present work has the main objective to document the experiences of individuals immersed in the reality of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis with the purpose of disseminating knowledge about the disease and transforming it into an audiovisual product, the web series. Method: The study applies an action research methodology integrated into the web series production processes, with a focus on different profiles related to the disease. These profiles include patients, family members, and healthcare professionals, denoted as profiles I, II, and III, respectively, representing diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and regions across Brazil. The participants were contacted, interviewed, and based on the content of these interviews, the thematic content for the eight episodes, which encompasses the challenges of coping with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and its main issues, was defined. Result: "Parallel Stories” is an educommunication product that portrays the impact of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in a humanized and transdisciplinary manner through the audiovisual language in the form of an eight-episode web series. Final considerations: The narratives of profiles II and III demonstrate that the lack of information and knowledge about the disease is one of the detrimental factors affecting the clinical condition, and educommunication strategies are essential for updating practices, introducing new forms of care, and maintaining the quality of life for individuals living with ALS.

  • Risk management and internal controls in the execution of exclusive employment contracts should be a central concern in hospital administration. The methodological design of this study consists of a hypothetical-deductive approach; the procedural method is document research and literature review; the research level is descriptive, and the sample will be a cleaning contract, which is one of the UH's exclusive employment contracts, chosen based on the highest overall contract value, its relevance, and its essentiality for the hospital's operation. The collected data will be cataloged and classified into: normative documents of the contracting process, normative documents of the contract management and supervision process, operational documents of contract management and supervision, and risk management and contract control documents. The analysis of the documents will enable the identification of possible risk management and implementation of controls adopted by the UH. The considerations will be made based on the analysis of the results and the proposed model of risk management and internal controls. This research aims to propose a model for implementing risk management and internal controls in exclusive employment contracts at a University Hospital (UH) within the Ebserh network. What risk management mechanisms and internal controls are used in the management and supervision processes of the UH's exclusive employment contracts? The specific objectives are: to identify existing models and legislation in exclusive employment management; describe how exclusive employment contract management occurs at the UH; and analyze the main controls and risks involved in the management of exclusive employment contracts at the UH. It is expected, at the end of the study, the elaboration of an operational manual containing a model of risk management and internal control for exclusive employment contracts.

  • Introduction: Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease, which, over the last few years, has had a significant increase in the notification of new cases, bringing an epidemic, especially in developing countries. From 2010 to 2017, there was a sharp increase in the number of new cases of syphilis in the general population in Brazil. Objective: Given this scenario, the objective of this work is to carry out research, applied to the restructuring of epidemiological and hospital intelligence rooms in the country, to promote, improve, and strengthen the technological infrastructure of Health and Environmental Surveillance in Brazil, with a focus on monitoring to face the epidemic of syphilis and other STIs. Methodology: The work was developed in eight stages, and applied in the real world. The first stage was an in-depth analysis of the Term of Decentralized Execution (TED) 111/2017. Subsequently, the addresses to which the equipment for the intelligence rooms should be delivered were mapped. The third stage delved into the theoretical part by conducting a literature review to establish clear and precise objectives for the execution of the work. The fourth part of the study was a consequence of the documentary analysis performed, in which the hypothesis was raised that the spaces available for the installation of the equipment would not be sufficient. In the fifth stage, a situational diagnosis of the spaces destined for the rooms was conducted, and in the sixth stage, all the information and answers to the questionnaire applied were compiled. The seventh stage consists of organizing and setting up a technical committee to discuss the scenarios encountered. Lastly, the equipment of the epidemiological intelligence rooms was resized. Results: Following the step-by-step proposed in the methodology, it was possible to expand the proposal of epidemiological intelligence rooms to a total of 434 spaces, with a 43.72% reduction of the cost involved. This cost reduction made it possible to expand the scope of the project, which also brought local actions in the State of Rio Grande do Norte (RN), through the strengthening of Hospital Surveillance in the State and the implementation and installation of SALUS Situation Rooms in the State of RN, as well as actions in other states of Brazil, the initiative to promote the certification of states and/or municipalities that achieve the goals of eliminating vertical transmission of HIV and/or Syphilis.

  • Introduction: One of the biggest challenges for the Brazilian Public Health System (in Portuguese, Sistema Único de Saúde – SUS), until today, is the integration of health surveillance (HS) and primary health care (PHC) actions within all the scope of management. The inclusion of institutional researchers with the national and interfederative project for rapid response and confrontation of syphilis, called “Sífilis Não” Project (in Portuguese Projeto “Sífilis Não”), during the years 2020 and 2021, in the state health secretaries, brought up the theme of integration of PHC and HS as an institutional support strategy for implementing this theme in Brazilian states. The supporters developed activities in the 26 states and Federal District from Syphilis, Urban Arbovirosis, Immunization and Covid-19 discussions, that were selected by Health Surveillance Department (in Portuguese Secretaria de Vigilância em Saúde), with National Council of State Health Secretaries (CONASS) and National Council of Municipal Health Secretaries (CONASEMS). Objective: the objective of this study is to present the results of the institutional support carried out in the 26 states and Federal District during the “Sífilis Não” Project, describing the activities performed by the supporters, successful experiences that occurred in the Brazilian states and presentation the monitoring of activities carried out. Methodology: the present study was a kind of “action research” and part of the actions that one decides to take to improve the practice. The “action research” process happened in stages: the first one happened when planning actions when the supporters started the activities in the territory; the second one during the implementation process of action, after the work plan discussion with the local management, in this moment started the record of activities carried out; the third phase, consisted of an analysis of the developed actions by the supporters; the last phase was the construction of the monitoring panel that aims to present data of what was produced by the supporters in the Brazilian states. Results: In this stage, 8.648 activities performed by the supporters in the 26 states and the Federal District was analyzed, with 4.500 activities carried out by HS researchers and 4.148 from PHC researchers. In the state of Tocantins happened the biggest number of activities carried out during the project, a total of 833 activities to support the process of integrating surveillance and primary care actions occurred in this place. It was selected 26 successful experiences, distributed in all support systems. The experiences demonstrate the work carried out by the supporters in the Brazilian states. The monitoring panel was built and updated during the period of activities carried out. Final considerations and Conclusions: The supporters had been present in all the Brazilian states and the Federal District and succeeded in initiating actions aimed at strengthening the integration of HS PHC in these places. The process showed the need to clearly define an integration policy with the definition of standardized indicators for this purpose.

  • Introduction: Effective communication was established by the World Health Organization as an international patient safety goal, aiming to promote more qualified and safe care practices in hospital institutions. Failures in communication processes between health professionals are related to care errors that result in harm to the patient and occur mainly in care transitions. Guidelines established by the Joint Commission International suggest that the use of technological tools promotes improvements in the transfer of critical information during care transitions in the hospital context. Aims: To investigate the effectiveness of the use of medical informatics applications/electronic medical records in communication between health professionals during the care transition processes of hospitalized patients and to develop a guide to good practices based on the analyzed scientific evidence. Methods: A mixed methodology, literature review and methodological study, consisting of a systematic review research, based on PRISMA guidelines and the creation of a good practice guide for the implementation of technological tools in the transition of care in an environment hospital. The search for studies was performed and adjusted for each of the following electronic databases: Embase, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), LIVIVO, PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science. The additional literature search included Google Scholar and PROQUEST (gray literature) searches. Randomized and non-randomized clinical trials were included that addressed the population of adult individuals of both sexes with professional training in health (Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Dentists, Nutritionists, Speech Therapists) working in hospitals and who participated in any transition of care reporting the use of any medical informatics application or electronic health records or computerized medical record systems directly related to the reporting process. Outcomes related to the reduction of adverse events and improvements in communication during transitions were evaluated. The risk of study bias was evaluated using the ROBBINS-I tool for non-randomized trials and RoB 2.0 for randomized trials. For the elaboration of the guide, the evidence brought by the analysis of data from the systematic review was considered. Results: After searching the databases, a total of 2,770 studies were identified, 10 of which were selected for analysis. Most studies reported improvements in communication, including more efficient exchange of crucial information and a reduction in transition time. However, the relationship between implementing these interventions and reducing adverse events was less clear, with several studies reporting mixed outcomes in this area. The implementation of technological interventions was generally accompanied by training and improvements in clinical practice. Additionally, the included studies had a variety of limitations, including possible biases and difficulties in measuring adverse events. Studies were assessed at moderate and high risk of bias. A good practice guide, considering the available evidence, was presented. Conclusion: Electronic interventions have the potential to improve communication during care transitions. However, it is important to highlight that the positive impact cannot be attributed solely to the technologies employed, given the role of training and improvements in clinical practice addressed in most studies. The effectiveness of these interventions may vary depending on the clinical context, which implies the need for adaptation and customization according to the specific context. Future research on a robust method is needed to further explore these nuances and optimize the implementation of technologies in the care transition in the hospital environment.

  • This study aims to verify the importance of a Personal Data Protection Policy in the context of an applied research project, using the “Syphilis No” Project  as a case study. Although vast amounts of personal data are processed under the "Syphilis No" Project, which is why it is necessary to implement strategies aimed at the protection of such data, it was found that there is no Personal Data Protection Policy instituted. The proposal of this work is to fill this gap, and, as such, issues related to the processing of personal data in the scope of the research project applied will be addressed, as well as the importance of implementing strategies and policies for the protection of personal data in this situation. As methodological procedures, the bibliographic review and mapping of strategies and policies for the protection of personal data implemented by the Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health - LAIS of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN, which coordinates and executes the Project "Syphilis No, were used.

  • In recent years there has been a significant increase in the number of syphilis cases in Brazil, seeking to reverse this epidemiological scenario, the Ministry of Health in partnership with the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte developed the project "Sífilis Não". The project aims to promote institutional strengthening actions to reduce acquired syphilis in pregnant women and congenital syphilis in Brazil. Among the various goals of the project, we can find the restructuring of sentinel laboratories throughout Brazil. The present work aims to develop management solutions to monitor the processes of acquisition, distribution and delivery of equipment and materials necessary to assist in the restructuring of sentinel laboratories, in order to strengthen the network to combat syphilis and other STIs. For such action, it was necessary to carry out an intervention of the responsible logistics team in order to organize and systematize the entire process. The study started with a bibliographic review on the subject and the understanding of the "Sífilis Não" project, given its complexity. Meetings and workshops were held in order to define all the stages of the process, according to the needs of the "Sífilis Não" Project. As a result, there was a need to use a management tool, The Manager, so that the entire process could become as transparent and dynamic as possible, facilitating the monitoring of activities and control. In addition, it was possible to develop the entire mapping of the value stream that the process should go through, so that the actions could be more efficient. In order to better systematize the processes, two standard operating procedures were created, providing lucid, organized and standardized work.

  • Data from the Ministry of Health in Brazil inform that a large part of the Brazilian population suffers with diseases in the oral cavity. When we talk about people with disabilities, data are scarce even knowing that this population demands greater oral health care. This public has difficulties in cleaning and chewing, in addition to suffering from limited access to health services, resulting in dental needs that can cause complications and systemic disorders, requiring high-complexity hospital care. This work aims to create a multidisciplinary hospital dental service for patients with disabilities. A bibliographic review of the literature was carried out in order to know the state of the art about dental services in university hospitals and the role of the dental surgeon. The increase in the number of patients seen, the economic viability and financial return of the service was demonstrated. A survey was carried out on the amounts paid through the SUS table as well as the possibility of structuring the service at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases of the Federal University of Tocantins (HDT-UFT) with the preparation of a protocol containing flow and criteria for the care of patients with disabilities and/or special needs in the hospital’s dental service. It is concluded that there is a need to create a multidisciplinary hospital dental service for patients with disabilities or special needs in a university hospital (HDT-UFT) and that a future implementation of the service will imply a growth in the number of patients with better care in the area and increase in fundraising for the hospital.

  • Hospital efficiency in Brazil comes up against the incipience of care management, the excess of bureaucracy, the lack of standardization of processes and the unavailability of practices that promote the quality of care efficiency. There is an opportunity to create value for patient care during hospitalization, impacting performance indicators in healthcare, especially during hospitalization. In addition, there is a mismatch in the knowledge of the care team and a gap in tools that promote standardized and participatory care management. Therefore, a care model called the MANAGE METHOD (integrated and rapid management) will be exposed, which performs the formatting of care processes to promote the effective management of the patient's journey during a hospital stay. The GERIR METHOD was designed based on the lean six sigma DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design and Verify) methodology. Finally, the GERIR METHOD fosters the concept of Health 4.0, as it allows the design of automated care management mechanisms, generating optimization of work processes and the provision of high quality services. As a result of the implementation of the MANAGE METHOD, a reduction in errors is expected with an improvement in quality, a reduction in costs and the leverage of assistance performance.

  • Introduction: The beginning of the sexual life of adolescents tends to occur more and more early, in which, in most cases, it is not associated with consistent sexual education. This act not only increases the risk of pregnancy but also that of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). In this sense, it is necessary to search for strategies that can collaborate for the formation of the adolescent's knowledge related to the theme “Sexual education”. With that in mind, there are possibilities to develop means of health education through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The range of information present in these educational technologies implanted in Virtual Learning Environments promotes the internalization of information and favors knowledge, since sensory stimuli are intensified, promoting attention and maintaining interest. Objective: To develop an educational resource on a virtual learning platform on sex education for adolescents. Methodology: Educational resource of the module type, in the form of distance education, self-instruction, mediated by didactic material, having as resources: videos, images, cartoons, animation, games, comics, questionnaire and the text itself. Results: The development of skills that this module provides opens up scope for working this methodology in the family environment, teaching, research and health services, encouraging parents, educators, health professionals and adolescents themselves to use the module in the environment that it's inserted. Conclusion: the idea of the module may come to contribute so that the greatest number of young people is reached with the knowledge about sex education, to improve their skills and attitudes towards behaviors related to the beginning of early sexual life, unprotected sexual intercourse, which can generate unwanted pregnancies as well as the appearance of STIs and their negative impacts.

  • State of the art: Cancer, also known as malignant neoplasia, is a disease that is associated with disordered cell growth and can be quite aggressive and uncontrollable. The various types of cancer are associated with the variety of cells present in the human body, differentiating through the speed of cell multiplication and ability to attack tissues and organs.  Problem:  Specialized professionals and high-cost equipment are essential for the diagnosis. In underdeveloped or developing countries, the complexity to perform the diagnosis increases, due to the high demand of patients and the absence of quality analysis. However, new technologies and strategies that act directly in early diagnosis are being investigated. One of them is the use of miRNAs, which are key regulators of gene expression, a fact that associates the interaction of miRNAs with the genome and the onset of diseases, and can thus be used as a biomarker. Methodology:  A bibliographic study was conducted on cancer and the use of miRNAs as biomarkers, to then start the requirements gathering, in order to understand the needs that the system should address. From this, the prototyping was initialized to validate the requirements, as well as to present the visual identity of the project, in order to provide a good usability and user experience.  After this initial phase, the scrum framework was used, which is based on agile methodologies, for the planning and implementation of the embedded system. Results and discussions: This study provided support for the development of the embedded system that drives the hardware in order to perform the reading and quantification of miRNA residues in order to ensure high specificity, low cost and rapid execution, according to the criteria of applicability and scalability for the Unified Health System (SUS), besides having interoperability with the electronic patient's medical record (PEP), ensuring the optimization of information management to public health services, providing greater economics to the SUS. Conclusion: The  miRNA-Box, an embedded system used in a biomedical device, developed by the Advanced Center for Technological Innovation (NAVI) in partnership with the Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health (LAIS) and the Ministry of Health (MS) proposes the applicability in Primary Health Care (PHC) with the objective of performing the analysis and early diagnosis of breast, prostate and cervical cancer, in order to improve the screening process of patients and provide cost reduction in the health area with complex diseases.

  • Hospitalized patients are subject to unexpected changes in their clinical condition. The vulnerability presented by inmates in wards is, even today, a major problem in health institutions. Thus, in response to this problem, in 1997 the first EWS (Early Warning Scores, in Portuguese, Early Warning Score) was created. The EWS are tools developed to assist in the early detection of the worsening clinical conditions of patients at the bedside, alerting the health team to provide the necessary immediate assistance. The National Early Warning Score (NEWS) surpassed 33 other EWS in detecting patients at risk for cardiac arrest, on unplanned admission to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or death within 24 hours of hospitalization. In addition, a high NEWS score (≥5) is also a good predictor of sepsis in patients. NEWS was first published in 2012 by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and its most recent version, NEWS 2, dates from 2017. This score therefore offers a standardized approach to assess acute diseases and uses physiological parameters that are routinely collected by the nursing team. As important as the updated concept of the score is the formation of teams for their use in clinical practice. Thus, in January 2019, the National Health Service (NHS) England in partnership with NHS Improvement, Health Education England and RCP published an English language course on NEWS 2 that provides support tools for its implementation and illustrates with practical examples how it is being implemented in England. Therefore, the aim of this study is to carry out the translation and cross-cultural adaptation, from English to Brazilian Portuguese, of the NEWS 2 e-learning program, referring to the Acute Care module, offering it as a course on the AVASUS Platform (Virtual Learning Environment of the Unified Health System). To achieve this objective, the steps of the methodological research for instrument validation were applied, which included content validation, after the translation and back-translation process, by experienced judges and nurses who work in the care of inpatients. As a result, there was agreement between judges and nurses on the validity of the content to be offered in the course. The products generated from this research were, therefore, 02 scientific articles and a course hosted on the AVASUS platform. Given the importance and urgency of standardizing EWS in the reality of hospitals in Brazil, the course offered via AVASUS aims to facilitate the implementation of NEWS 2 in the Brazilian health system, which will favor the early identification of patients at risk of clinical deterioration and early intervention for these people, reducing the incidence of unfavorable outcomes and positively impacting the health of the population, in addition to containing the occupation of intensive beds and a probable reduction in hospital costs. The relevance of the NEWS 2 score for clinical practice is highlighted, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, which alerts health services, professionals and the community to the importance of training nursing teams, in particular, in the identification of complications to inpatients.

  • Facing the challenge of managing a network of Federal University Hospitals (HUF’s), distributed
across the country, the role of information technology at Ebserh has become increasingly
important in the enrichment of organizational and strategic processes to reach institutional goals.
However, all hospitals under the company management responsability were incorporated after
Ebserh's creation and each of them had its own specificities and used countless different
information systems (softwares). Moreover, many of those systems were developed by the unit
itself, which are not known by Ebserh. As a result, proper management can not be carried out in
this regard, generating rework in hospital units and a lack of software. In order to solve the
aforementioned problems, this work seeks to propose a Policy for the sharing and incorporation
of software, which is an innovative initiative and will be the first step towards the proper
organization of the Ebserh Network digital ecosystem.

  • Objective: To develop an innovative educational resource, using technological mediation, on nutritional therapy, as a permanent education strategy, for the qualification of nurses and other professionals who provide health care at a University Hospital. Method: It is a qualitative quantitative research in the form of action-research, which aims to portray a specific situation or problem through different sources to outline the action that is decided to be taken to improve the practice of health care. This project was promoted after reports from the Multiprofessional Team of Nutritional Therapy that the rates of hospital malnutrition are considered alarming. The intervention proposal aims at documentary analysis, of the indicators observed by the EMTN; study and analysis of the perception of nursing assistants at the University Hospital of Santa Maria regarding the patient's nutritional status during the hospitalization period. Data collection will be carried out through surveys, by electronic means. Discussion: In order to develop the project, we need to register, submit and approve the SIE - Information System for Teaching at UFSM and GAP - HUSM Project Support Office and CEP - UFSM Ethics and Research Committee via Plataforma Brasil. After processing and approval, the documentation will be forwarded to the term for acceptance of the services involved, EMTN and the Nursing Division of the HU. So make it possible we will start with an analysis of the documents available to the teams: EMTN Routine Management Manual; indicators and records. For research and analysis of nurses perception, the semi-structured questionnaire will be sent to nurses at HUSM, via e-mail, in the Microsoft Forms, with simple questions and answers. To make the subsequent analysis feasible, the form is organized in a field of perception: knowledge, skills and attitudes. To elaborate the educational resource, a script will be described for the development of the units' content and the identification of the teaching methodology based on the identified needs for teaching and learning the theme. The validation of the module will take place at a NEPE meeting. Final considerations: It is perceived that superficial knowledge in health can expose patient safety and quality of care in SUS. The provision of excellent services, focusing on a culture of continuous improvement in the quality of care process is essential. Improving assistance and overcoming the obstacles identified in the health work process and which aims to qualify workers, involves using educational resources mediated by technology that enables the qualification and updating of health professionals, aiming at the transformation of care practices.

  • At the end of 2019, in the city of Wuhan-China, the new Coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2) was discovered, causing within a few days after a global pandemic that continues to this day. Due to the virus developing in the airways, a concern with aerosols become constant, with the population and health professionals taking hygiene and protection measures. Thus, health professionals who come into contact with the upper airways, such as those present in Basic Health Units and Otorhinolaryngology departments are susceptible to high power of contamination. This concern led to the more frequent use of telemedicine. Thus, with the greatest distance from aerosols, with the use of telemedicine, it is proposed to develop a Low Cost Video Otoscope, which uses a boroscope-type camera, with visualization of images via smartphone and body on a 3D printer. The project will be carried out in 5 phases: Bibliographic review, Elaboration of the Device Project, Prototyping, Tests on Simulator Manikin and Production of the Definitive Model. The expectation is that the project will generate a patent and be disseminated to several Basic Health Units and Health Care Establishments

  • State of the art: Cancer, also known as malignant neoplasia, is a disease that is associated with disordered cell growth and can be quite aggressive and uncontrollable. The various types of cancer are associated with the variety of cells present in the human body, differentiating through the speed of cell multiplication and the ability to attack tissues and organs. One of them is the use of miRNAs, which are key regulators of gene expression, a fact that associates the interaction of miRNAs with the genome and the onset of diseases and can thus be used as a biomarker. Methodology: A study of cancer and miRNAs as possible biomarkers. Then, a study on some types of biosensors in use today to find a way that fits portability and low-cost parameters. From that, the development of the project took place through simulation of the circuit in a computational system and its subsequent real construction. The need for integration with the information management system and task organizer was considered in all these stages. Results and discussions: This study provided subsidies for the development of a device with an embedded system that performs the reading and quantification of miRNA residues to ensure high specificity, being controllable by an external system through serial communication, which performs the test quickly and low cost, providing greater savings to SUS. Conclusion: The miRNA-Box is hardware with an embedded system used in a biomedical device, developed by the Advanced Center for Technological Innovation (NAVI) in partnership with the Laboratory of Technological Innovation in Health (LAIS) and the Ministry of Health (MS) proposes the applicability in Primary Health Care (PHC) intending to perform the analysis and early diagnosis of breast, prostate and cervical cancer, to improve the screening process of patients and provide cost reduction in the health area with complex diseases.

  • Syphilis is a sexually transmitted bacterial disease caused by infection by Treponema pallidum, capable of resulting in death or the development of serious sequelae, especially when it occurs in pregnant women and newborns. Despite being considered a disease of simple clinical management, capable of being completely cured without leaving sequelae after the completion of the proper diagnosis and the beginning of treatment with antibiotics, over the last few years, several countries have reported a significant increase in new cases, characterizing a new epidemic wave worldwide, especially in underdeveloped or developing countries. In Brazil, over the last few years the number of new cases of syphilis has increased again in the general population, being particularly serious among pregnant women and newborns. Health surveillance in Brazil faces a serious problem related to the fragmentation of existing databases at the Ministry of Health (MS), which makes it difficult to assess and monitor epidemiological problems in the country, including Syphilis. In this sense, the objective of this research was to develop a dedicated system of embedded hardware and software, called SVSBOX, that is capable of integrating databases of Health Information Systems and that are of interest to Health Surveillance in MS, in a unique environment. Optimizing information management, through accurate indicators, in addition to saving global costs for health services and networks.

  • For many decades the society has had the need to monitor and assess the standard of living of the population. In the 1950s, the United Nations (UN) saw this need and proposed 12 areas that should be evaluated, being the first one of the areas listed as “Health and Demography”, focused on what is expressed as the health level of a population. Decades has passed and great results have been gained from similar initiatives such as reducing mortality by infectious diseases and even eradicating some others. In the age of the digital society, needs have grown and horizons have widened. Monitoring demands that once perished from data to become concrete now suffer from the opposite effect, the excess of data from everywhere. Healthcare systems around the world use many different information systems, collecting and generating hundreds of data at unimaginable speed. We are billions of people on the planet and most of us are connected to the virtual world, sharing information, experiences and events with the cloud. In this information age, the ability to aggregate and process this data is a major factor in raising public health to a new level. The development of tools capable of analyzing a large volume of data in seconds and producing knowledge for targeted decision making can help in the fight against specific diseases, in the process of continuing education of professionals, in the formation of new professionals, in the elaboration of new policies with the specific locoregional look, in the analysis of hidden trends in front of so much information faced in everyday life and other possibilities. The present work proposes an architecture capable of handling this large amount of data and a systematic capable of producing, from this data, predictive analyzes for risk groups.

  • Over the past few years, the resurgence of the epidemic of syphilis has required the development and adoption of new strategies for diagnosis and efficient treatment of infected patients, especially among pregnant or childbearing women. Among the immunological screening methods used to establish the diagnosis of syphilis, VDRL is able to identify the presence of anti-cardiolipin antibodies present in the sample, being one of the most widely used non-treponemal methods worldwide. Although widely used, this technique has several technical gaps that allow the establishment of false negative and false positive results, compromising the conduct adopted after the test result. Based on this problem, the present work proposes the development of a new smart device for the diagnosis of congenital syphilis that will not allow false negative or false positive results since it directly investigates the presence of the bacteria (from the identification of its DNA sequence) in blood sample analyzed, a high sensitivity, specificity and low cost treponemal test capable of being incorporated into the Brazilian primary care network.

  • The incorporation of health technologies is a central theme in the concerns of several countries today, due to their economic impact and to the quality of life of the populations. The fact that university hospitals in Brazil are the main actors involved in the effective incorporation of technologies for health care is highlighted. It is observed that, although there has been an important advance in this aspect in Brazil in recent years, the incorporation of health technologies in the hospital context still lacks a structured and functional flow model. Given that the Ebserh network is responsible for the management of 40 University Hospitals in all regions of the country, knowing its reality in the incorporation of technologies is essential for proposing a new flow for the incorporation. The aim of this study was to elaborate a process of incorporating health technologies for the Ebserh Network, through an applied, observational, transversal study, with exploratory documentary and field research, under a descriptive approach with quantitative and qualitative analysis. To support the generation of the main product, the research was designed in three distinct phases: phase 1 - documentary evaluation of the health products standardization commission of the Hospital Universitário de Brasília (HUB) and the analysis of the national documentation and literature on the subject, generating a published scientific article; phase 2 - carrying out a semi-structured questionnaire to the 40 Ebserh branches to carry out a situational diagnosis of the Network and phase 3 - carrying out a focus group with the members of the HUB's Health Products Standardization Committee (CPPS), phases that supported the proposition of the flow model for incorporating health products, presented here as another generated product, in addition to two scientific papers sent for publication. It was concluded that there is a need for scientific and situational analysis that supports the best practices in the incorporation of products for hospital health, and the new flow that stands out as a tool to be used in search of the acquisition of quality and safety products to the patient in the hospital stands out. Ebserh network, with potential cost reduction, this model, scalable for other hospital institutions in our country.

  • State of art: The development of a massive online open course, focused on continuing education of professionals in several areas, especially in healthcare, has proved to be a promising strategy for updating the knowledge of those who aimed to develop a more critical-reflective thinking about the problems faced in their professional routines.  Problem: One of the problems in healthcare facilities is the incipience in the planning acquisition processes of highly complex equipment, as well as incidents involving the use of this equipment, exposing patients, healthcare professionals and the equipment itself at risk. Objective: Thus, the objective of this study is to propose the structuring of a pedagogical project for the development of a distance learning course, to be hosted on the AVASUS platform, to mitigate weaknesses in the acquisition planning process of highly complex equipment and in its use. The equipment choosed is nuclear magnetic resonance, justified because it has a high cost of acquisition, implantation, and operation, besides causing a high impact on care when it is unavailable. Its unavailability compromises the performance of diagnostic imaging tests for identification, prognosis, and therapy of patients, mainly suspected with cancer. Methodology: A survey of articles was carried out in 4 databases available on the CAPES platform. It searched themas on the structuring of open courses supported by information technology. In addition, consultations were made to the AVASUS platform's guidance documents. Besides, two immersion workshops occurred in order to define the pedagogical structure of educational courses mediated by information technologies. To develop the programmatic content of the course, research was carried out with secondary data, on the nuclear magnetic resonance equipment and the problem of its operation and the planning of its acquisition. The course preparation began in June 2019 and extended until June 2020. Results and Discussions: The outcome products are a pedagogical proposal of a 60-hour course, which overview the insertion of MRI equipment in healthcare systems, presenting theoretical, normative, legislative and practical concepts about this technology and its use. The instructional design and the pedagogical architecture of the course were developed based on the best recommendations found in the studied literature. Conclusion: Thus, the structuring of massive open online courses is strategically viable for the formation of a reflective critical thinking about the practices of healthcare professionals in their daily routines involving problems related to highly complex medical equipment, with a consequent minimization of the assistance, social and financial impacts on health systems and increased patient safety, the focus of modern health strategies.

  • Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the bacteria Treponema pallidum. When a pregnant woman is infected and does not undergo treatment for it or does it inadequately, the infection can be transmitted to the fetus, causing what is called congenital syphilis. According to recent data published by World Health Organization, only in 2016 over a million of pregnant women presented the active phase of infection by syphilis during their pregnancy. With this knowledge, a new exam for diagnostics of congenital syphilis is proposed, with higher indices of sensitivity and specificity, in such a way that risk for false positives and false negatives are mitigated. The work reported here from the need of software components to control executed assays. The proposed architecture is comprised of two web services, a graphic user interface, and a common library. Technology produced are multiplatform, and meet the criteria of robustness, stability and availability.

  • The availability and appropriate use of information are raw materials for actions to control, prevent and reduce diseases in health systems. Public health data in Brazil is produced by several isolated and unintegrated tools, making it difficult to elaborate the management of this information. DATASUS, Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (SUS), has several systems to produce information necessary for SUS management, such as the Outpatient Information System (SIA), the Hospital Information System (SIH), the Information System About Mortality (YES), among others. However, the data contained in these platforms are neither standardized nor integrated, and it is not possible, for example, to compare populations or follow up per patient. As a result, producing managerial information becomes an extremely arduous task. Studies related to health management improvement, especially public health, describe and present success stories with solutions related to the implementation of Data Warehouse (DW). Data Warehouse can be defined as a platform that contains an organization's data, centralized and organized so that users can simply extract complex analytical reports containing management information. DW projects consolidate and communicate data from different sources and formats in a process of cleaning, integrating and transforming data (Data Mining), making it available for quick access. The benefits of using DW technology are many, including quick decision making and better resource management. In relation to DATASUS, these techniques can represent a substantial advance and still contribute decisively to epidemiological and health surveillance studies through the identification and correlation of existing patterns in the data. Integrating DATASUS information systems databases is a prerequisite for a real breakthrough in utilizing the huge data contained in these systems. Initiatives such as the DW developed by the University of South Florida for community health management, and research group studies for the São Paulo State Department of Health (SES-SP) have been successful with the use of DW and encourage adoption of these tools as facilitators to increase the quality of public health. This paper proposes the creation of an environment for storing, centralizing, integrating and processing data from different SUS information systems. The information analyzed by the project will be extracted from the institutional websites of the Ministry of Health and DATASUS.

  • Brazil has experienced a scenario of high incidence of syphilis since 2010, leading to the announcement of the Ministry of Health about the epidemic of the disease in Brazil. The disease is curable, unique to humans and transmitted through sexual intercourse from the bacterium Treponema Pallidum. Syphilis acquired, syphilis in pregnant women and congenital syphilis are the possible types of the disease. Unlike the others, congenital syphilis is transmitted from mother to child during pregnancy or childbirth if the mother is not diagnosed or treated during the gestational period. This type of syphilis showed a 300 percent increase in registrations of new cases in the country.

The information presented is alarming and presumes possible circumstances experienced in Brazil. Given that the incidence rate of congenital syphilis is increasing sharply, it is possible to state that the number of new syphilis cases in pregnant women, as well as the incidence of a gap in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease, also presents worrying numbers. During prenatal care, the mother undergoes syphilis testing every trimester and this test is repeated monthly if the pregnant woman is diagnosed with syphilis.

Two tests are performed in the diagnosis of syphilis. The rapid test (treponemal test) is used as the first test and results in a maximum of 30 minutes. If the result is reactive (there is an etiological agent present), the individual should perform the second test, the VDRL (non-treponemal test), which has its result presented in about seven days. Due to the severity of the scenario in which the baby may be subjected if the individual is a pregnant woman, treatment with benzathine penicillin (benzetacil) should begin immediately, in other words, even before receiving the VDRL.

It is curious to think that with the decrease in congenital syphilis cases, there is a decrease in syphilis cases for a future population. Proper prenatal follow-up, as well as proper follow-up of treatment instructions for the disease should be followed so that syphilis, which is millennial, becomes only in the history of Brazil.

  • State of the art: Optimizing the waiting time for hospitalization has been a major problem for the Unified Health System (SUS), and for the quality of health services. Delay in care has significant impacts on well-being, chances of cure, the nature and extent of sequelae in the patients and family members involved. The situation is even more aggravating when, in addition to being high, deadlines are unpredictable. According to Ordinance No. 1,559 of August 1, 2008, which establishes the National Policy for Regulation of SUS, implemented in all federal units, respecting the competencies of the three management spheres, as an instrument that allows the fullness of health responsibilities assumed by the spheres of government: Health Systems Regulation; Regulation of Health Care; and Regulation of Access to Assistance, this entire management process must be guided by the institutional complexity profile, defined according to the contractual model agreed upon, following pre-established criteria between institutional management and state, municipal or federal management. Contracting is an instrumentation process with qualitative and quantitative targets, created by the Ministry of Health to guarantee assistance financing. Adapt this reality to a hospital university education becomes essential to equalize demand and productive capacity. The proposal of the system is to assist Federal University Hospitals, of the Ebserh network, to monitor in a unique way and in real time, the regulatory processes and control of patients on the list selected for hospitalization, evaluating the priority according to criticality for better time scheduling and minimization of waiting. However, it will bring benefits of optimization and agility in work processes, visibility of management indicators, improving the quality of care, ensuring user satisfaction. Problem: Hospital organizations present in their day-to-day a great challenge to reconcile the increase in demand with the installed capacity while maintaining the quality of service. Excessive hospital capacity has always been a serious problem for the world population, and it is no different in Brazil, thereby increasing mortality, causing slowness in the care of acute patients, which may even represent a threat to human rights. Adapting this reality to a university hospital is essential to equalize demand and production capacity. Given this, is it possible to create stratification strategies obeying criteria that allow the hospitalization of patients to occur in an equitable way, free from personal interests? Considering the bases developed to facilitate the understanding of the theme and the problem, the following question arises: Can the use of technologies such as the development of a system for organizing the patient waiting list promote improvements in the management of hospital beds? Objective: to develop a web software for intelligent management of the waiting list for hospitalization, in order to create stratification strategies according to criteria that allow the hospitalization of patients to occur in an equitable, effective and free of personal interests, from the time of entry into the list until admission. Methodology: Initially, this study was conducted based on a systematic review of the literature in search of concepts on management and management of waiting lists, better development strategies for organizing these lists and priority criteria for patient admission. Another point of development of the SisperaH web system, consisted of the need to carry out an applied research, whose objective is to generate knowledge for practical application, aimed at solving specific problems (KAUARK, 2010). It uses the technological method, that is, it is concerned with the creation of a new product (ANGELONI et al., 2016) - a web software, not always based on classic scientific knowledge, but rather on optimization of bed management, considering for this the organization of the waiting list of patients for hospitalization according to priority criteria, providing agility in the decision process. Results and Discussions: It is a challenge to invest in innovation and technology to guarantee the improvement of health care in our country, that is why SISPERAH - Intelligent Hospital Waiting List Management System, is of great necessity to maintain an effective evaluation, showing the growing benefits in the organization and inclusion of patients on the waiting list with homogeneous criteria of priority for hospitalization. In addition, the system will make it possible to collect information in its true magnitude, reflecting the real problem, so that it can be evaluated continuously the management flow of the waiting list, controlling data to minimize the waiting time, helping to improve the quality of hospital indicators of the patient's hospital stay, occupancy rate and bed turnover. With this system, hospital institutions will be able to evaluate the clinical criteria of greater comorbidity, the waiting time of patients for each specialty, evaluating the demand, the effects caused by waiting, levels of satisfaction, quality of life of patients, and relevant contributions to the hospital, ensuring equity based on patient-centered care. Conclusion: it is expected to be able to optimize the waiting time of patients, improve the flow and resolution for clinical hospitalization in different specialties in an equitable, effective and free of personal interests and, consequently, decrease morbidity and mortality, increasing the rate of hospital occupation and turnover. of bed, minimizing the rate of hospital stay. For this reason, SISPERAH - Intelligent Hospital Waiting List Management System, is of great need to maintain an effective evaluation, showing the growing benefits in the organization and inclusion of patients on the waiting list with homogeneous criteria of priority for hospitalization.

  • Accreditation is recognized as an important tool for adopting good organizational practices in healthcare institutions. In addition to providing excellent care and patient safety, it allows for the optimization of resources and strengthens their respect towards society, suppliers and professionals. For this reason, in Brazil, there is a growing demand for the certificate in hospital accreditation. However, hospitals find it difficult to implement the requirements because implementing accreditation is not a simple process. Institutional, cultural and financial barriers can interfere in the process of obtaining the seal. Given this, the country has not yet surpassed the number of 5% of accredited hospitals. Currently, no direct administration hospitals or university hospitals in the Ebserh chain have any type of quality certification. This scenario raises the need to develop strategies aimed at optimizing and systematizing the quality management process that helps hospitals in preparing for the hospital accreditation process. The objective of this work is to develop a web software for self-assessment of the level of organizational maturity in quality, preparing the hospital for the accreditation process. This research consisted of two approaches, the first being a literature review for a better understanding of the accreditation process, which are the main barriers and best practices found, the main similarities and differences between the most prevalent accreditation methodologies in Brazil. The other approach was of an applied or technological nature, due to the process of developing a web software. As a result, the system called Acreditah: Self-evaluation System for Excellence in Health, was developed and applied at Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes and presented to the other 39 hospitals and Ebserh Headquarters, contributing to the practical foundation of the research, evolution and validation of the system. The software allows real-time monitoring of the continuous assessment process, documenting situational diagnoses and promoting a better analysis of its evolution in quality.

  • Patient safety represents one of the biggest challenges for health services and has mobilized the search for strategies that ensure quality health care. The Brazilian Ministry of Health establishes the involvement of patients and family members in patient safety actions and the expansion of society's access to information related to the topic. Problem: Based on the assumption that the improvement of the safety culture provides integration among professionals, patients and family members, so that effective communication leads to improvement in health care, the question arises: what tools can we develop to facilitate user improvement? international patient safety goals? Objective: To propose strategies for health institutions to involve the patient in the care process through audiovisual and teaching materials mediated by technologies. Methodology: A short video script was developed to be used in institutions that serve children (wards, waiting rooms), with the themes: patient identification, hand hygiene and prevention of hospital falls. A 30-hour modular self-instructional course for the AVASUS platform was also developed, entitled: Involving patients and caregivers in international patient safety goals. Results and Discussion: The presentation of educational materials is a relevant strategy to involve patients and families in appropriate care. The tools now presented prepare professionals to instruct them. In this way, the products developed, such as the videos and the distance education course, add new information, in a systemic way, to the materials already available on how to meet the international goals of patient safety in hospital institutions.

  • The current context of digital technological innovation that Industry 4.0 brought, generating a gigantic volume of data, poses new challenges for the internal communication of organizations. Hospitals are naturally complex institutions due to their diversity of activities, professional profiles, types of audiences and regulations to be followed, being an example of an institution with large-scale data management demands. The organizational profile of university hospitals and their role in society, prompted reflection on the importance of the quality of information, the way they are disseminated, as well as the way they are received by the internal public of a university hospital, that is, or, on the effectiveness in the internal communication of this type of institution, considering that it will impact everyone who deals directly or indirectly with patients, influencing the results delivered, whether in academic training or health care.

However, it is observed that the processes refer to internal communication in this type of organization presents some difficulties such as a lack of directed communication and interactivity between the different segments of the internal public. The objective of this work was to verify the needs and deficiencies of the internal public of a large university

hospital in the Ebserh network (Complex Hospital de Clínicas da UFPR) and make a proposal to use intelligence as na artificial instrument to carry out targeted communication, through recommendation of content. The study was based on bibliographic research, quantitative and qualitative research with the qualified sample of the internal public of the Hospital de Clínicas Complex of UFPR (formed by professionals and residents from all areas), as well as proof of concept for recommending content from news available on the CHC-UFPR and Ebserh portals. This work enabled us to verify the importance and difficulties that exist in the internal communication of a large university hospital, while demonstrating that the use of artificial intelligence, such as data management and content recommendation, can be a viable and promising solution for these needs by inserting this type of organization in the age of communication 4.0.

  • State of the art: Endophthalmitis is an intraocular infection with a poor prognosis in most cases, as patient's final visual acuity may remain equal or worse than before surgical treatment. In some situations, there is a need for more radical treatments, such as enucleation or evisceration, which consist, respectively, of the removal of the eyeball or its internal content. According to the Ministry of Health (2017), despite the low incidence of this type of infection, the outlook in case of outbreaks is devastating, as the number of patients undergoing surgical procedure on the same day is high, under similar risk conditions. In this context, Epidemiological Surveillance (VE) emerges as an important tool for elaboration of prevention procedures, monitoring and control of infections. As determined by the MS (BRASIL, 2017), health services that perform ophthalmological procedures must establish an Epidemiological Surveillance System for endophthalmitis, defining surveillance actions to be applied. Objective: To develop an Epidemiological Surveillance System through elaboration of a program / application to monitor, investigate, control and prevent endophthalmitis in ophthalmology services of EBSERH’s hospital network. Materials and methods: This is a methodological study with technological, descriptive divided into three stages: Stage I: review of literature Stage II: Application of semi-structured questionnaire with members of care teams of responsible sector for carrying out ophthalmologic surgeries   for raising the diagnosis of the system used in the prevention of endophthalmitis Stage III: Development of specific Epidemiological Surveillance System for endophthalmitis. Results and discussion: Development of software for endophtalmitis. The system should carry out in a practical way analysis of: endophtalmitis distribution and frequency; profile of hospital’s involved microorganisms, including community germs infections considered as contaminants. It should also identify hospital’s endophtalmitis index (hospital infection) by procedure and for a specific period. For this notification system elaboration, a specific protocol was also added for prevention and intervention at endophtalmitis cases in the Institution. A good practice for ophtalmic surgical procedures handbook was also written.

  • Introduction: The subject of patient safety has been discussed among service providers, health institutions and governments in its different spheres, for more than a decade. In this sense, the number of research is increasing, demonstrating that the patient's participation in their care is fundamental to avoid adverse events. Risk management not only by the team, but also by the patient and their companion, brings transparency and shared responsibility in the health decision-making process. Still, in clinical practice, there is a need for change in the health context about empowering the patient, who is the actor who should be directly involved in their care. Person-centered care, therefore, makes the patient a partner of the care team, which can act as a barrier to adverse events. Considering a situational diagnosis carried out in 2019 at the hospital in the period between 2015 and 2018, in which the referred study was carried out, a total of 749 adverse events were recorded, of which one died, called Never events, an event that was not supposed to happen ( VIGIHOSP, 2016). Aims: a) to identify, through a systematic review of the literature, the impact of patient empowerment in reducing adverse events during hospitalization; b) get to know the perception of HUGV / AM professionals about the patient's empowerment in the prevention of adverse events; c) analyze the effect of an intervention in the team's routine in reducing adverse events; d) produce educational material that must be transmitted via AVASUS. Method: mixed method research consisting of a) a systematic literature review study for which a specific protocol was used based on the PRISMA-P checklist, based on the acronym PICO, following the checklist criteria. The search strategies were applied in the databases (Cochrane, Lilacs, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science) and in the gray literature (Google scholar, Open Gray, and ProQuest). The risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Critical Assessment Checklist for intervention studies and the quality of evidence was assessed by GRADE; b) a cross-sectional, exploratory-analytical case study; c) medium-term, applied research using light technology. The professionals who worked in the care of adult patients admitted to the medical clinic of HGV / AM participated in studies b and c. d) methodological research for the development of a script for educational material. Quantitative descriptive, inferential, and qualitative analyzes were performed on the data obtained in the studies. Results: a) Returned, after applying the inclusion / exclusion criteria 6 articles for systematic analysis; b) professionals perceive that patient empowerment is important for the prevention of adverse events; c) during the period of 1 year, observing the insertion of questions about the patient's empowerment in the face of adverse events in the professionals' routine form, there was a statistically significant difference in the reduction of adverse identification events and falls, but not in the events of skin damage and medication administration; d) after revising the script, it is approved and will be used for the production of educational material via AVASUS, as part of the Patient Safety Course already on the platform. Conclusion: The empowerment of the patient and his companion can reduce adverse effects during hospitalization and the proposition of interventions with light technology, as the insertion of questions in the patient safety form represents a low cost possibility for minimizing AE in hospitals. Longitudinal studies with the adoption of other interventions to raise awareness among health teams, patients, and their companions about their role in preventing adverse events are desirable.

  • State of the art: Schoolchildren hearing health is fundamental for their learning process. In the School Health Program of the Ministry of Health and Education, it is recommended to identify students at risk for hearing loss, as well as actions and strategies aimed at promoting hearing health. There is a gap regarding solutions mediated by technology in the management of work involving Education and School Health that can contribute to storage, communication and integration processes between school, family, primary and specialized health care actions. Objective: To develop an information system about schoolchildren hearing. Methodology: This study is web system technological production. For system development, the following phases were carried out: (1) Definition of system’s functional, non-functional requirements and business rules based on meetings between researchers of both fields (health and technology); (2) Elaboration of an initial prototype to validate information using Balsamiq Mockups; (3) Modeling of system database, using the SQL Power Architect tool. Database used was Postgresql; (4) Coding and development. The system was developed in PHP with Laravel Framework, Javascript, HTML 5 and CSS; (5) Tests and system validation with audiologists with insertion of information in the system. An evaluation questionnaire was applied, in addition to the issuance of a descriptive report with potential, weaknesses and suggestions for system improvement; (6) Software registration and (7) System implementation. Results: The hearing information system for schoolchildren (HSS) is a web-based system, accessed by login and password. It has as users, professionals of the school unit and the school's health reference unit, as well as education and health managers with different permissions as to register, edit, delete and view the system information. Information about students' hearing involves results of individual hearing screening tests, questionnaires to teachers and parents, as well as a form for analyzing the acoustic environment of school classrooms. This information can be stored, analyzed and viewed in the HSS by the referral health unit for individual and collective decision-making. Tests performed by audiologists registered seven UBS, four schools, 40 students, 10 from each school and different school grade, a form with the result of the hearing screening test and a risk questionnaire for parents. Both questionnaires were filled with students’ individual data. Initial assessment of HSS was satisfactory in terms of usability and flexibility for registration at Basic Health Units, Schools, Students and the responses to the two questionnaires. There is a need to improve editing and deletion functions, as well as viewing reports. Conclusion: The HSS, in the preliminary version presented, has fair functionality with the potential to contribute for work processes between primary health care and public schools, contributing directly to hearing health of students. It is still necessary to improve the HSS regarding information management.

  • Cell phone usage has increased dramatically. This change in the form of communication between the owners offers great potential for involvement in patient care, supporting their self-management and shared promotion with health services. Improve communication, facilitate compliance with scheduled procedures and reduce surgical suspensions. Thus, the objective of this work was to develop a communication tool called Surgery Remember to mitigate surgical suspensions due to patient absenteeism. It is a study of technological production divided into four stages: review of the literature, analysis of the administrative profile of the hospital under study, software development and process mapping for the implementation of the surgery Remember. To approach the problem of absenteeism as the main cause of surgical suspension in the three years, the development of this system aims to reduce cancellations of surgeries. The sending of messages three days before the surgical procedure, allows the replacement of patients in case of no-show, optimizing the human and material resources of the operating room. Confirmation of the pre-anesthetic consultation is also positive to verify the improvement of perioperative care. Therefore, the software developed, in addition to being viable and easy to implement, allows the addition of other options according to the need, proving to be favorable in solving the exposed problem.

  • Syphilis is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the world, with millions of people infected each year, although there are simple condom prevention measures and effective and considerably inexpensive treatment options. In 2016, in Brazil, syphilis became a public health problem, requiring a mapping of syphilis-specific care networks. Nowadays the use of mobile phones has become unanimous, the population is increasingly linked and dependent on this technology, according to the 30th Annual Survey on Administration and Use of Information Technology in Business, conducted by the Getúlio Vargas Foundation of São Paulo ( FGV-SP), Brazil has 230 million active cell phones. The National Program for the Improvement of Access and Quality of Primary Care (PMAQAB) aims to induce the expansion of access and the improvement of the quality of primary care by providing public data that can be used for this improvement. The proposed study aimed to develop a application that helps the Syphilis Attention Networks to map information about the infection and thus improve the fight against its proliferation. In this work was developed a Mobile platform, with the Flutter framework in Dart language, which will extract from the PMAQAB platform, data on health units that fight against Syphilis, then was integrated with Google tools able to inform the geolocation of these health facilities, provide access information, as well as supply data related to the application user demand. Based on the above, we can conclude that Brazil has failed to fight Syphilis and needs new projects capable of improving its use. proliferation of this bacterium. Therefore, this application can help in the mapping of syphilis care networks in addition to becoming a module for a case management system, and can map several other diseases besides syphilis.

  • Studies reveal the high mortality of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in Brazil and worldwide, highlighting its impact on the health system and on the quality of life of individuals. The performance of nurses brings substantial improvements in self-care, adherence to treatments and healthy lifestyle, indispensable points for reduction and control of CVD cases, and nursing consultation is the ideal time for these interventions. The cardiology outpatient clinic of the Walter Cantídio University Hospital (HUWC), in Fortaleza / CE, has a nursing team that daily monitors the medical treatment of patients and the preparation for exams and surgeries. However, the team does not have an adequate validated instrument for These consultations, which follow the steps of the nursing process according to Resolution COFEN 358 of 2009. The objective was to build a nursing consultation model for the HUWC cardiology outpatient clinic in Fortaleza / CE. This is a qualitative research, which will use the methodology of Convergent Care Research (PCA) in order to collectively build the proposed nursing consultation model. In PCA, there is the immersion of the researcher in the research field, acting in the field of study and being part of the reality studied, in addition to the participation of other professionals involved in the care setting, with the meeting between the care and research actions in order to generate change. It is proposed to define with the outpatient nursing team what would be the necessary nursing consultation for patients inserted in the service; identifying the necessary elements in these consultations to then collectively construct nursing registry instruments and the outpatient cardiology nursing consultation model that can be inserted in the current system used by the hospital (AGHU) and, in the future, in the patient's electronic medical record. Finally, the study proposes to validate and implement the built nursing consultation model and describe the steps taken for its implementation. This work is expected to qualify the work process of the HUWC Cardiology Outpatient Clinic, since the team will participate in the change process and the nursing consultation will be based on the scientific knowledge and legislation of the profession.

  • One of the largest public health systems in the world, Brazilian Unified Health System, is an international reference and model for other countries that aspire to health systems with better equity. In order to take care of all this intricate health care network, large investments in infrastructure, technology and essentially in the management of intellectual capital are necessary, carried out mainly through health information systems. One of the alternatives to ensure that the population is assisted with excellence is through the process of continuous and permanent education of health professionals. In order to have an idea of the dimension of the need to improve this human capital, in just one of the university hospitals linked to the Empresa Brasileira de Serviços Hospitalares, more than 1 million procedures between medium and high complexity are performed annually. In this universe, it is well known that the weakness in the management of intellectual capital in the hospital environment, can negatively reflect not only in the behavior of health professionals but also in care and academic practices. Therefore, this study raises questions about how it would be possible to make the management of learning solutions more effective, in order to enable the continuous improvement of health professionals at Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes (HUOL). Thus, this work aimed to develop a web system, Gestão de Soluções de Aprendizagem – Logos, aiming at improving the intellectual capital of HUOL, through a literature review on health education management and softwaredevelopment in perspective of an agile methodology; specification and modeling of software requirements and their relevant diagrams; developed and tested the software functionalities; and conducting system simulations with the hospital's development area for the purpose of obtaining software validation. To achieve the objective, the work was guided by a study of an applied nature, outlined from an exploratorydescriptive perspective and with a qualitatively structured approach, using procedurally an action research, having this meantime developed a software in three stages: Planning, Development and Evaluation within the Scrum methodology. As a result, it was inferred that organizations, regardless of their size, area of activity or segment of activity, depend, at least yet, on human knowledge and skills to be effective and, in view of that, one of the viable alternatives is the conscious and sustainable investment in the promotion of a permanent culture of professional qualification and human formation, making use of available technologies, such as software that assist in the management of these diverse learning experiences that occur simultaneously in a university environment. Therefore, it is concluded that the LOGOS! can help HUOL to better understand the institution's intellectual capital due to the possibility of managing the professional qualification of its employees in a quantitative and qualitative way, in addition to allowing all users of the system to interact autonomously, providing time savings and generation of training indicators that support an assertive decision making.

  • Introduction: The Syphilis is a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), millennial and reemerging, caused by Treponema pallidum. In Brazil, the syphilis rates have been increasing significantly due to risky sexual behavior, multiplicity of sexual partners and sexual intercourse without condoms. The Community Health Agent (CHA) can contribute significantly to fight against this epidemic, considering the establishment of a strong relationship between the community and the primary health care system, which may corroborate even in the early detection and development of strategies that point pathways to improve the health care assistance. This requires that these professionals becoming adequately qualified. In this sense, we understand that telehealth, especially tele-education has a leading role the professional qualification. Methodology: Thus, a bibliographic and documentary study was conducted about the use of technological mediation in permanent health education, as well as epidemiological data on syphilis for better understanding of formation needs. This course will be composed of three educational technology-mediated modules, in the self-instructional format, developed using an interactive approach, through the use of visual and auditory elements, with dialogued exposure and presentation of guiding questions, where the professional will be able to perform the activities on-demand by logging into the SUS Virtual Learning Environment (AVASUS) platform. Results: The present study provided subsidies for the construction of a learning pathway and pedagogical strategies using the tele-education, a telehealth tool, for the formation of CHA facing the epidemic growth of syphilis, through three educational technology-mediated modules. Module 1 available on the platform AVASUS since apr/2019; module 2 in the process of editing and module 3 in the content elaboration. Conclusion: The educational activity is positive and contributes to a more effective and effective performance of CHA in the community, consequently favoring the control, prevention and treatment of syphilis. Thus, consider that the managers and health professionals are subject to problems of this problem requiring permanent education as a strategy to improve the quality of care to users of SUS (Single Health System).

  • Blood transfusion is a complex procedure involving risks, which can be minimized through activities to maintain process quality. For this, it is necessary to establish well-defined flows to improve processes and minimize unnecessary expenses. The objective of this work is to propose a new protocol for the reservation of blood components for surgeries in a university hospital in Recife-PE. Initially, the work process related to transfusion and reserve of blood components was mapped and, based on the 511 requests for blood transfusion-STS analyzed between February and June 2018, it was possible to describe the indicators "Conformity of STS", "Frequency of data missing in STS; and "Number of concentrates red cells-CH for surgeries ". After this previous evaluation, we performed the construction of the protocol for the reservation of blood components for surgeries. The critical points encountered in the mapping were the STS completion and the excessive number of requested CHs returning to the stock.  It was verified that almost half of the cares studied were incomplete or shaved. The most absent data in STS were age, laboratory results, weight, sex and patient location. In the period studied, of the requests for CH reserves made, only 5.3% were used. This shows a high number of blood requested unnecessarily. With the use of the protocol of reserve of blood components for surgeries the expenses with the reserves would have fallen in 50%. The use of the proposed protocol generates an economy with a direct impact on blood stock levels, therefore, by making only the necessary reserves, less time and materials will be wasted and especially fewer blood components will be handled unnecessarily, thus reducing the risk of loss of this important asset that is human blood.

  • Diagnostic Imaging Centers (CDI's) generate a large volume of data. Qualified patient care requires efficient access to all relevant information. Doing so requires a framework for sharing information that meets the needs of service providers, patients, and institutions that make up health systems (IHE, 2017). The concept of data sharing is strategic for organizations with decentralized units such as the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (Ebserh). Able to reduce costs, connect professionals and provide a foundation for various innovations in information and communication technology (TIC) for health. Data sharing is increasingly present in daily life promoting rapid changes in the ways of learning and in the way people relate. In view of the above, the present study aims to answer understand: Image Units of the University Hospitals (HU's) administered by Ebserh manage their data to meet the demands of assistance, teaching and research? To answer this question, a literature review was sought to understand how Cloud Computing is contributing to the evolution of Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS). Subsequently, the perception of the managers of the Image Units in HU’s was evaluated through a questionnaire, contextualizing the findings with the perspectives and trends in information management found in the review. The conclusion was that the Image Units of University Hospitals need to innovate their processes and adjust more dynamically to the environment where they are inserted; planning actions in a structured and scalable way, that add value to the services provided. The Cloud PACS is an important tool for Ebserh to promote this innovation in University Hospitals.

  • The automation of work processes in a diagnostic imaging center, associated with the increase of information and communication technologies (ICTs), has enabled agility of routines in health services. These technologies optimize remote access by the medical professional and patient to radiological medical data and information (images and report) through the internet (OLIVEIRA; LEDERMAN; BATISTA, 2014). Today we have a problem that is the difficulty in patient access of the data in the hospital environment. In order to solve this problem, this study offers a proposal through the creation of a software that contemplates functionality through the web to the point of providing automation in the process of accessing the images and medical report (report) produced in the Center for Diagnostic Imaging of the University Hospital Onofre Lopes (HUOL). The advances and improvements are centered on the evolution of the automated and computerized process both in the production of the report and editing of images as well as in the autonomy of access of this data by the radiologist and patient. To build the software, a bibliographic research was carried out based on scientific articles published in the last 10 years. The unified modeling language (UML) was also used to assemble the system architecture. With the modeling of the software, it was observed an optimization for patients access to the exams, speeding the health treatment, greater mobility, reduction of queue of waiting. In conclusion, we highlight a significant increase in patients, now seen in HUOL from the interior of the state and the great Christmas, this technology will bring better quality of life for SUS patients.

  • The increase in costs of hospital services coupled with the limitations of public financing and increased demand in the health sector required new management models focused on process rearrangements with the goal of eliminating waste, reducing costs, optimizing time and improving the patient's experience. The lean six sigma methodology (LSS), originally introduced in manufacturing, was introduced in many areas, including health, based on three pillars: patient focus, time and value. As a goal, a lean six sigma guide was developed for application in the different areas of the Ebserh Network hospital environment, based on the implementation of these concepts in the chemotherapy clinic of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Federal University of Goiás / Ebserh between the period from January 2018 to April 2018. A qualitative, quantitative, applied and exploratory approach was used. As a technical procedure, bibliographic research and action research were used. The work was conducted using the lean six sigma DMAIC methodology in its 5 steps: define, measure, analyze, implement and control. The current and future value stream map (VSM) was elaborated and the waste was analyzed in the process. Patient scheduling for chemotherapy was changed from manual to electronic, via network communication, based on the available chairs in the sector and infusion time of the chemotherapy protocol. The average occupancy rate of the sector was 48.75%, with an increase of 9.32% among the analyzed periods. The total lead time was decreased from 15 days 1 hour and 24 minutes to 9 days and 24 minutes (reduction of 42.8%). A takt (labor rate to meet the daily demand of the sector) was obtained with an average value of 17.8 minutes. A major advantage of lean methodology as an instrument for health management and innovation lies in the ability to make major changes, optimize processes and eliminate waste without the need for hard technology or high financial investments. Changes can be provided using simple materials, or even without the need for any material, once the redesign of the process, reallocating human resources and activities, can be the solution to the problems under analysis.

  • Technological innovation, through the research and development sectors, must be the result of cutting-edge scientific production and influence the productive sector of a country. The importance of health research in Brazil is widely recognized, with health research institutes being among the first and most important in the country. Health, because of its social importance, but also because it accounts for a significant portion of national investments in research and development, emerges as a productive system capable of materializing a model of competitive and inclusive development. Ebserh, a public company created in 2011, has, among its purposes, the provision of support services for teaching, research and extension and does not yet have guidelines for conducting research. It was considered the importance of proposing a flow for the processing of research projects in Ebserh, the objective of this work. In order to conduct this study, three research institutions were appointed to evaluate the flow of research projects, as well as a field study at the Planning Department of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and the Norte-Rio-Grandense Research Foundation and culture. As a result, a flow proposal was drawn up and it was noted that it is imperative that a and define regulations, based on the national legal framework, and processes related to the carrying out of research and technological innovation in the network hospitals, in order to institutionalize and foster scientific production and contribute to the development of Brazil in research and technological innovation in health.

  • Introduction: Hospital management has been gaining more and more importance due to the expansion of health systems and the complexity of the organization of hospital services. However, throughout its history, Brazilian public hospitals, including university ones, were conducted to oppose a low qualified management, including in the area of care, where they work in an individualized manner, with little interaction among the professionals involved in patient care. In Brazil, university hospitals have a fundamental importance in the evolution of Health Unic System (SUS), as well as in the training of human resources active in professional practices, in the development of research and in the incorporation of new technologies for collective health. To improve the management of federal university hospitals, Ministry of Education (MEC) created the Brazilian Hospital Services Company (Ebserh), setting performance targets, deadlines and indicators, as well as investing in human resources, infrastructure and technology. Objectives: To present a proposal for intervention that consists of disseminating the step-by-step model of an Assistive Management model for the university hospitals that are part of the Ebserh network based on co-management and devices such as Kanban, NIR (Internal Regulation Nucleus) and Indicators panel. Materials and Methods: Applied research, qualitative, in a context of bibliographic review of the Narrative Review type, with intervention proposal. The population is the set of devices and management tools in the health care sphere of the hospitals, and the four devices selected by the author (Production / Management Unit, Kanban, Internal Regulation Nucleus and Indicators Panel) characterize the sample. They are characterized as the foundation of a hospital management model that, after being implanted, may be increased by other devices derived from them. Results: A total of 07 articles on hospital management, 23 articles and 03 books on the subject of co-management / participatory management, 07 articles on the use of the Kanban tool in a hospital environment, 11 articles on in-hospital bed regulation and 10 articles on hospital management were collected use of indicators in hospital management. Of these, 21 were selected for the basis of the intervention proposal. Product: Assistance Management Model to be implemented in university hospitals of the Ebserh Network, which will serve as an embryo for the development of an increasingly professional and qualified assistance. Conclusion: We observed the poor qualification of health care management in the Brazilian public service, reflected in the low number of publications on the subject, as well as the lack of training of healthcare workers on the management of their work processes. We conclude that the implementation of a Management Model for Ebserh University Hospitals, based on co-management and basic care management devices, would provide a qualification of assistance based on innovation and scientific evidence, bringing quality and efficiency, as well as providing a position among Brazilian public hospitals.

  • This master’s research aims to develop a content aggregator and distributor application, named WEBserh, for the 40 Federal University Hospitals (FUHs) administered by Ebserh (Empresa Brasileira de Serviços Hospitalares), called WEBserh. This research originates from the need to consolidate strategies for network organizational communication, in accordance with current legislation, which ensures the dissemination of information about the potential of health services and their use by hospital managers, patients and others. It has a larger scope by proposing its use in the dissemination of information to the health professionals of these establishments. The methodology consists of bibliographic research and interviews that demonstrate the insufficiency of the current communication channels for this purpose and the growth of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in health. As a result, it is expected to improve the integration of information among these FUHs, their collaborators, users and other stakeholders. WEBserh also aims to reduce the patients' feeling of waiting time in hospitals and promote health education, contributing to the prevention and treatment of diseases. To hospital professionals, WEBserh will represent a new channel of access to corporate information and guidelines, disseminating and organizing knowledge about management, training and assistance in an agile and widespread manner.

  • Neonatal screening is performed to prevent possible health problems in the baby, favoring early treatments that will reduce or eliminate factors that may impair their typical development. Among the five screenings currently used, the ear and tongue tests are performed by the audiologist or the speech pathologist. Although guaranteed by law, its coverage is still lower than that recommended in Brazil and the flow for optimizing resources and monitoring of the baby's health conditions is not always established. In the context of public health, coverage failures and information management of neonatal screenings generate permanent negative impacts for the entire population, with consequences for the economic and development spheres of the country. It was therefore considered important to describe and analyze the implementation of changes in the speech-language pathology workflow in the neonatal speech-language pathology sector of an Ebserh network, the main objective of this study. By means of an analytical, descriptive and quantitative-qualitative research that was organized in three phases, namely: the analysis of the literature through an integrative review, simultaneously to the organization of the data obtained with the implementation of innovations in the workflow of speech-language pathology in neonatal screening; the creation of a software for the computerization of the whole process of speech-language pathology screening in this maternity, and in the third stage, a survey was conducted to know the reality of neonatal speech-language pathology screening in the Ebserh network, were obtained as results four products presented to the scientific community (2 articles and 1 book chapter), as well as to the National Institute of Industrial Property, for the registration of software called HERA. It is concluded that the products presented contributed to the establishment of the innovation implemented in the maternity in question, as well have the potential to promote improvements in neonatal speech-language screening services.

  • Images in endoscopy are essential items for the documentation of the examination, archiving for studies and discussion of the findings by the clinical team. In current endoscopy equipment there is no simplified method for digital capture and storage of the exams. The use of printers, coupled to the system, is the only way to document the images of the exam. Lack of filing makes the preparation of medical reports more costly, time consuming, and makes it difficult to view later for teaching and research. In order to solve the problem, the objective of this work was to develop an innovative solution using low cost hardware and software tools capable of capturing, converting and storing the images produced in the endoscopy sector of the University Hospital Onofre Lopes (HUOL), UFRN , where the demand arose. For the accomplishment of this work four steps were carried out: Literature review on the technique of endoscopy, and image digitalization, analysis of the equipment present in the HUOL, development of image capture system and, finally, creation of mechanism of storage and conversion images. To capture the images, a low cost microcomputer Raspberry Pi was used, and a desktop microcomputer serving as a server for manipulation, visualization and storage of the images. An application has been developed to allow the exams to be stored remotely on a medical imaging filing and communications server, allowing the clinical staff to access them from anywhere. The developed system provides, in addition to cost savings, the improvement of the endoscopy industry processes as it allows the exams to be stored remotely on a medical imaging filing and communication server, allowing clinic staff to access them from anywhere.

  • This article presents a methodological proposal of signaling project for a federal university hospital. The methodological contribution is divided into three fundamental stages: planning (support network construction and realization of situational diagnosis), development (elaboration of signaling project, development of bidding process, validation of content and closure of manual of signaling and setting) and implementation (signaling project implementation and proposal evaluation by the hospital community). The method is innovative by adding to the proposal the construction of a support network, which includes training of operational staff from partnerships, strategies for involving management and the hospital community in the process, and opportunities for raising funds in the public sphere, which drastically reduces project costs to institutions. The proposal is presented in detail throughout the article and comes to support managers who wish to develop signaling projects and do not have the technical knowledge, staff or financial resources to execute it.

The outpatient chemotherapy service at the University Hospital Professor Alberto Antunes (HUPAA / UFAL / EBSERH) in Alagoas was used because it was showing low productivity, long waiting time for patients to start treatment and complaint of the professional team overload service. The methodology was based on a literature review to support the project discussions. Sequentially, the process mapping, the identification of the critical nodes of the process and the identification of the critical nodes of the process were carried out together with the observation of the service dynamics and based on the concepts of process management. construction of a new process mapping that illustrates the work process implemented. In order to evaluate the impact of the new process implemented on the quality of the service, parameterized indicators were established before and after implementation. It was verified that the procedures performed in the service are complex and dependent on manual labor tools and not integrated among the sectors that compose it, which caused problems such as communication failures, divergences of information due to lack of understanding of the service processes by the care team and greater expenditure of resources with direct impact on productivity. The team work mapping, associated to the understanding of the process and the redesign and implementation of a new model showed a significant positive impact on the quality of the service provided, with a significant improvement in the indicators of patient waiting time, service productivity and billing.

  • Introduction: In the face of globalization and scientific and technological advances, improving the quality of care is a growing challenge for the management of health institutions. Currently, the scale of insecurity related to avoidable events in health services is considerable, in addition to the direct cost of treatment there are additional costs that result in loss of productivity and decrease of patient confidence in the health system. Thus, care protocols appear as an instrument to qualify hospital care and to reduce the occurrence of adverse events related to clinical management. Objective: To construct the modeling of a technological tool - a digital repository that can store, manage and standardize health care protocols in the Ebserh network. Methods: The methodological path covered several phases: observation and analysis of the professional experience in a federal university hospital branch of the Ebserh network in the South of the Country; integrative literature review; description of the specificities of the digital repository and the development of a prototype for validation of the modeling. Results: In the repository were identified 3 actors of use: users of the systems: servers / residents; local manager (subsidiary); central manager (headquarters). The revision of the protocols will take place every 2 years. After accessing the protocols, the user can comment and evaluate its structure and content. Each protocol is inserted into the repository through a standard structured form. The repository will produce statistical reports. Conclusion: The protocol provides quality improvement based on evidence and adequate to the institutional environment, reduction of adverse events and waste of time and financial resources of the hospital institution. The digital repository will allow not only the storage and management of the institutional protocols of only one hospital unit, but of 40 HUs, generating an impact in the management towards the health of excellence.
