The Graduate Program in Chemistry of UFRN was implement in August of 1992, initiating with the Master’s degree program. From may of 2006, the PPGQ started to offer a Doctoral Degree program. Throughout its 21 years of existence, the PPGQ has trained about 215 masters and 45 PhDs. It is a relatively new program, but one that has stood out because of the great effort, involvement and competence of its faculty.

The PPGQ-UFRN is currently constituted of 22 permanent professors, 6 collaborating professors and 152 students. The selection process takes place every six months and the students who get first places and who do not have an employment relationship, receive a scholarship from several funding agencies, such as CNPq, CAPES, ANP and PETROBRAS, to develop basic and technological research.

At present, the faculty involved with the PPGQ has an infrastructure of good quality and suitable for conducting studies in its proposed Lines of Research. Therefore, the scientific production of the team has been improving and growing continuously.
