Presentation

The Professional Master in Design (awarded grade 4 by CAPES) emerges as an advance in the field of Design in Rio Grande do Norte. The undergraduate program was created in 2008 by UFRN. It is, therefore, a pioneering program in the State, in addition to being the first in the field of focus “Ergodesign”. UFRN’s Graduates in Design may work in industries, printing companies, advertising agencies, software factories, government agencies, educational institutions, among others. The teaching staff comprises professors from several UFRN programs, such as Social Communication, Design, Engineering, among others, in addition to collaborating professors from other federal higher education institutions. It encompasses the following lines of research: 1) Product Ergonomics and Built Environment; 2) Human-Computer Interaction, Usability and Informational Ergonomics.

The Master’s degree Program relies on the Laboratory of Experimentation in Usability (LEXUS/UFRN), which consists of two rooms: a test room and a research and observation room. LEXUS has computational resources (hardware, software and devices) for conducting tests and other researches on usability and elaboration of digital prototypes, web applications, software, bi and three-dimensional animations and multimedia applications. The laboratory has 4 PC and Apple microcomputers; Mac Book Air 13 inches, IPad and Multifunction Printer.

The Master's Degree Program also has the Video Conferencing room of the Graduate Programs, equipped with a 56-inch LED TV, webcam, microcomputer, mouse and wireless keyboard, multimedia projector, air-conditioning. The room can accommodate up to 20 people.

In addition, it also stands out the partnership with the Laboratory of Ergonomics and Usability of Interfaces in Human-Technology Systems, of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC/RIO) and with the Usability Laboratory of the Nokia Institute of Technology.
