Doctorate in Association, grade 4. The Graduate Program in Development and Technological Innovation in Medicines (PPgDITM) offers a doctoral degree program whose purpose is to educate/train human resources able to work in research, development and technological innovation of medicines. The PPgDITM consists of an Association of Brazilian Teaching and Research Institutions: 1. Federal University of Ceará - UFC, 2. Federal University of Paraíba - UFPB, 3. Federal Rural University of Pernambuco - UFRPE, 4. The Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN. The applicants are offered as field of focus “Technological Innovation in Medicines”, having as lines of research: a) Development of Pharmaceutical Products and Processes, b) Analytical and Productive Technologies, c) Pre-Clinical and Clinical Tests.

In order to provide a broad education/training focused on the development of innovative medicines, the doctoral degree program is divided into thematic areas, called training stages. Each training stage consists of mandatory and elective courses and is planned so that the student attends mandatory courses in each of the training stages and then complements the credits with electives according to the specific nature of his/her thesis topic. Five training stages were structured, namely: Chemistry/Biochemistry, Pre-clinical, Pharmaceutical, Clinical and Registration and Post-Commercialization, including Technological Innovation and Intellectual Property (http://www.sigaa.ufrn.br/sigaa/verProducao?idProducao=691847&key=41d555874a11fa49859ce8515ae6ede6).

The PhDs who graduate in the PpgDITM shall have solid knowledge in the field of pharmacy, mastering the production chain for the development of new drugs and innovative research and technology transfer in some stages of the chain: from the synthesis and prospection of new bioactive molecules to the clinical research of new drugs, passing by the determination of the efficacy and safety of these molecules and their formulation in pharmaceutical specialties.
