Luiz Goncalves holds a BSc in Computer Science from State University of Rio de Janeiro in 1993 and a Doctorate in Systems and Computer Engineering from Computer Graphics Lab (LCG) of COPPE-UFRJ in 1999 including a two years stage at the Laboratory for Perceptual Robotics of UMASS at Amherst, MA, USA. He is currently a Full Professor at the Computer Engineering and Automation Department of Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. His research interest is in the several aspects of Graphics Processing including topics as robotics vision (main interest), computer graphics, GIS, geometric modelling, animation, image processing, computer vision, and on Robotics in Education.
