Presentation

UFRN’s Undergraduate Program in Science and Technology aims to educate generalist professionals with an innovative profile, with a solid foundation in the areas of exact sciences, computing, engineering, management, entrepreneurship, environment, and humanities. The program is offered on the central campus, located in Natal, in person, and lasts three years for those who choose the daytime shift, and three and a half years for those who choose the night shift. Annually, 1,120 places are offered, with admission in both semesters.

The program has an interdisciplinary and quite flexible nature, allowing students autonomy in building their curriculum and forging their own path within the program. Upon starting their studies, students take mandatory basic subjects in the areas of mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, environment, science and technology and society, management, and entrepreneurship. A range of knowledge is offered for a solid education, regardless of the path the student decides to follow in the program.

After completing a certain number of curricular hours, the student can participate in a selection process to choose one of the 13 available specializations (minor), directing their studies or pursuing a more general and interdisciplinary education.

The program develops in the student an investigative approach to knowledge production, highlighting a commitment to sustainability, the relationships between science and technology, and always trying to understand the impacts that these relationships have on society and the economy.

A graduate in Science and Technology is able to establish themselves in a wide variety of markets, such as technology industries or companies, public agencies, and third-sector organizations. It is worth noting that a Bachelor of Science and Technology is also eligible to take higher-level public competitive selection processes for admission into public service, allowing admission into various technology-related fields.
