Geology is the science that uncovers the secrets of our planet, studying its origin, structure, composition, and the internal and external processes that transform it.
With nearly 50 years of tradition, the Geology Course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) stands out for training highly qualified geologists. Our graduates work in various fields, including teaching and research, exploration and mining (mineral and petroleum industry), geological cartography, hydrogeology, environmental geology, geophysics, geoprocessing, and marine and coastal geology.
The course's curriculum structure allows students, in the last four semesters, to specialize in areas such as Crystalline Terrain Geology, Sedimentary Terrain Geology, Petroleum Geology and Geophysics, Mineral Resources, Environmental Geology, and Hydrogeology.
The course is offered full-time (morning and afternoon), with a minimum duration of five years. Annually, 30 student vacancies are available, filled through SiSU based on the ENEM score. The Department of Geology features an auditorium, classrooms, teaching and research laboratories, and the support infrastructure of the Center for Exact and Earth Sciences (CCET). Our faculty currently comprises 29 PhD professors.
Join the Geology Course at UFRN and contribute to the development and preservation of our planet!
