Ementa/Descrição:	A disciplina está dividida em duas grandes partes: a primeira faz referência aos fatos demográficos e a segunda faz referências às teorias que tentam explicar esses fatos demográficos: i) Na primeira o objetivo é discutir os aspectos fundamentais do crescimento histórico da população centrando atenção nas análises das tendências de crescimento e câmbios das diferentes populações que constituíram e constituem a humanidade; populações que se renovam (ou não) através da fecundidade, mortalidade e as migrações. ii) Na segunda o objetivo é estudaras abordagens clássicas da teoria da transição demográfica, da relação entre desenvolvimento econômico e crescimento populacional, e aspectos atuais relacionados ao tamanho de população.
